Agreed, the Ardbeg 10 year is fantastic particularly at the price point... those other options are very intriguing as I've never heard of them.
Back to us getting screwed on booze pricing, I recall grabbing the Ardbeg 10 year for under $60 in the US. Looks like it is $100 at the LCBO.

Without even going across the border you can see this effect. I bought a bottle of Kilchoman for $55 in a private wine/scotch store our of Calgary. Got back to Ontario and the bottle retails for 89.95.

I found cans of inert gas at my local boozery. I guess you're supposed to spray it in bottles of booze that are prone to oxidation so prevent them from losing its flavour/alcohol content.
Nice little find for $10. Now, I'm not as scared to open up the nicer bottles on my shelf.

Heads up, there is a Ledaig 10year at some lcbo's now, 66$ Any scotch at that price is cheap, it's also a good scotch.

Been enjoying both the Cairdeas Portwood and the Uigeadail over the holidays. The latter is a peat beast, well balanced by honeyed notes from the sherry casks - easily in the top 3 of the single malts I've sampled. The former is an anomaly; Laphroaig peat and smoke, with the port finish delivering an almost buttery sweetness. Also quite enjoyable. Long, full finish on both.

Got a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black for Christmas so looking forward to trying that. I've never actually drank any of the Johnnie Walker line of products.
I'm about half way through a bottle of the Balvenie Doublewood which I'm really enjoying. I think I might like it just about as much as the Glenmorangie Original as an everyday scotch. The Glenmorangie might have the slight edge as I can get it for 45-50 dollars most of the time.
What are other peoples day to day scotch?

Last winter, I slowly worked my way through a couple of bottles of Laphroaig Quarter Cask. As far as Islay goes, it's one of the best bottles for money out there (and currently $5 off at the LCBO).

I like the Balvenie 12 Doublewood as a day to day, but I can't get it any more over here. I am friends with the guy who imports it, and have been on him to bring it back but he doesn't make all the decisions about what they bring in. So he gave me a bottle of 15 year old Single Barrel to shut me up. It's pretty good but I can't keep this shit in stock long before I need another fix.
Glenmorangie is available here but the price is a bit steep. Lately I've been drinking Crown Royal as a day to day because it's cheaper here than in Canada. ($28 for a 750ml). I like it better than the usual bottom shelf stuff (Johnny Walker, Grants, Chevas Regal).
Can you still get that Collingwood whiskey in Canada? I remember trying it a few years back and kind of liking it.

I'm going back to Singapore in October. This means I'll be swinging by La Maison Du Whiskey and most likely buying 4 bottles of something very tasty.

I find Japanese whiskys have really changed in the last few years. Not so much the taste itself, but the corporate strategy. A lot of those bottles do not even have years, like the Nikka ones. They have more blends (Hibiki 17 is a blend), and yes they're more difficult to get.
I never did get anything at LMDW in Singapore... it was so bloody expensive! The SGD seems to be pegged to the USD and it wasn't worth it to buy anything there this time around.
