I dont know how long this info has been out for but I just found about this now on www.xpander.nl

Im kinda happy Satoshi is getting a chance at doing a NuB BUT I was hoping Max Graham would get the next NuB...

Hahaha. What a joke!

Satoshie has been around longer than some of you have been listening to electronic music!

I know the exposure is good, but I'd have asked to do a GU main series if I were him. That's kind of insulting.

Cheers,
Jay K.

He's been around longer than ALL of us have been listening to electronic music.
His DJing has only recently hit the global market which is why he was asked to do Nu Breed, not GU.

Nubreed, GU, does it matter?

This is going to be good regardless of what series it is for. And besides, although he has been producing/remixing for ages now, how many people knew of him before LoveInTraffic came out? And that was what, a little over a year ago? He may be a so-called 'superstar dj', but he hasn't been considered that for the length of time that any of the GU djs have. He hasn't even had that status for as long as many of the Nubreed djs. But as I said, does it really matter? We're going to get a kickass compilation one way or another, that's the important thing.

Not to sound cynical, but I've actually known him from back in his early days with Frankie Knuckles and David Morales at Def Mix. I mean fuck, the guy works side-by-side with the godfather of house music (Frankie Knuckles)!

Anyone familiar with house music would know who he was long before 'Love In Traffic'. Satoshie has played keys on just about every Def Mix remix or production to ever come out since 1988. Just look at the credits.

Does anyone remember 'Tears'?

My argument is that in my opinion, he's just as big of a name to me (or maybe I should say 'just as influencial') as your Sasha or Digweed. Heck, he's been behind the music those guys play for longer than they've been DJing!

I dunno. It does seem a little degrading that they're calling him 'NuBreed'.

Cheers,
Jay

It's not degrading at all...Satoshi hasn't been playing progressive for more than a few years. The GU's are aimed at progressive, not classic house. The funniest thing is that he's the one excited about doing the Nu Breed while others are saying he's too "Old Skool" for it.
My other point from before is that as old skool as some of us may think we are, we all know we were listening to Def Leppard and Don't Worry Be Happy when Tears came out in like 1988 or whatever.

GU, NuBreed, who cares!? The album is put out, regardless of classification. Even though the NuBreed series is way tighter than the GU, far higher consistancy IMO.

Looking forward to hearing this album, anyone know who's up after Satoshi?

My vote goes to Jas!

That guy is really lacking in self confidence. I'm sure a NuBreed would give him the ego boost he needs.

Not I and I have the records and tapes to prove it! I'm an old fogie.

Someone mentioned Chris Sheppard and he had this thing going at RPM that went out over CFNY every Friday (and later Saturdays) that played this weird stuff called 'house music' back in 1987/88 when CFNY was still a cool and respectable station.

Being a massive Depeche Mode/New Order/Human League/OMD fan, I couldn't get enough of all of the freaky sounds guys like Knuckles, Phuture, Maurice, Farley Jackmaster Flash, May, Atkins, Adonis, Saunderson, etc. were getting out of their DX-7's (the classic Detroit string sound), 303's, 909's and 808's! Put a Fostex 4 track in there somewhere and if you were lucky, a Tascam reel to reel machine and an Atari ST/Amiga, and you were groovin'!

But yeah, Satoshie ain't 'nu'.

Regardless, I can see why he's pumped and I myself would do it in a heartbeat.

Another thing I find interesting is that Bang have booked him in recent visits instead of Breathe.

Cheers,
Jay
