So, my 1st time at Boa.....
The pros
- friendly staff
- very powerful, clean sound system (though it does need some tweaking still) - I'd say it's the best in the city
- dark, minimal lighting and decor
The cons
- the crowd (there was an epidemic of fur coats and 1/2 naked breasts)

- the crowd (weren't there for the music, couldn't care less who the dj's were)
- the crowd (about 1/2 of them left before the headliner even came on!)
Music-wise I was very disappointed. The 1st guy seemed to lack direction, just playing random tracks. Oscar G started off that way as well but then switched to lounge-y tribal house, a little mellower than I like it but still good. So after waiting 4 hours, at 6am it was finally time for Saeed + Palash.
Saeed starts things off..... and it's 100% circuit house.
Now I wasn't aware that last night was being promoted as a gay night.... and if I had known, I won't have gone. Nothing's wrong with circuit music, but after paying the cover charge, waiting for 4 hours and managing to stay awake after an incredibly late Friday night.... TRIBAL house is what I wanted. What made it even more disappointing is that I've heard S&P several times before, so I know that they can deliver kiss-ass tribal sounds.
Waited til 7:30, hoping that Palash would go on and change the direction of the music.... but he left Boa around that time - guess he came back to close it off? - and I knew it was time to call it a night.
Otherwise Boa seems a nice enough space but it's evident that certain things still need working on (yes track lights are visible when you're walking up the stairs, but what about when you're walking down?).
I'll probably give the place another try, on a night when I'm sure that the advertised type of music is actually being played! And I'm pleased to see that they're bringing in amazing dj's for the next 2 weeks... so yes, maybe my 1st impressions will change.

p.s. big thanks to Par-T for keeping me company through a frustratingly long night!
