Roy Davis at System

Roy Davis was absolutely sick!!! cover all the bases of house music. he dropped it hard at times, he dropped it with slammin' basslines, and he dropped the jazzy, roxy blu-type tracks. sometimes all 3 elements would be kicking at same time. and right before i left, he dropped it old school. GIVE OUT THE FUNK, I WANNA FUNK, I WANNA F-F-U-N-U-N-K!!!!!! the crowd went sick. all in all, it was the best house i've heard this year.

His residency is quarterly, so I'd assume he'll be back around July sometime. Was his set better than the last 2-3 times he's been here? I haven't heard him play a good set since last January (2001), and didn't bother heading out last night as a result.

the last time Roy was at system, he played a great set! if i didn't have to play out last night, i would have been there for sure. Roy has the heart, the soul and the music to back up his message.

See, I didn't dig his set last time around Deeno. It was missing something. Funk maybe? Something with a little more "umph"? Anyway, I'll give him another shot next time he comes to town, assuming I'm not on vacation when he's back in July.

Out of curiosity, how did the party in guelph go? I would've gone to that or RDJ, but I had a housewarming to throw.

Showed up at about 1230 and got in no problem. Thanks to Alan who spins weekly in the back. RDjr was OK but wasn't really my thing. Bumped into some girls I knew who kept me company fotr about an hour:p I'll be back there soon enough I'm sure.

enjoyed his set much more than last time. i felt his programming was much superior this time around, mixing soulful with funk to keep things interesting.
impressed me, but not the BEST house set i've heard all year; i kinda liked little louie's set better.
but hey, when you're brushing up with louie, that's no put-down!
