Room mates

It appears a number of you who do not live at home live with others. The people you live with, did you know them before hand? Were they your friends before or a friend hooked you up with them? Moving in with people can be good and bad. It sucks living with someone you just can't live with, and not everyone would make a good room mate.

<---- Curious again

I didn't know my current roomate before I moved in....but it's worked out pretty good...him and I both work odd hours, so we rarely, and I mean rarely, see each other....plus, given that we're in a house, it's more than comfortable for two people.

I met my current roommate through mutual friends.

It's working out fine so far... but he's a cool guy. So that's what makes the difference. He's very laid back like I am.

Plus he works different hours, so I have my time alone if I want it.

I live with FIVE roomates.

My brother, 2 guys that my brother lived with last year, a friend of a friend and one guy the landlord found. We all get along pretty well and go out together fairly often.

I much prefer it to living alone. Its cheaper and its not as boring, there's always someone to talk to. And you still have the privacy of you're own room.

That's kind of my thinking as well, cheaper and you have company, people to hang out with, go out with.

my first roommate I knew for years and years.
and during the 8 months he lived there, I lost all respect for him.

the next roommate was a guy I used to buy pot off. it went well, just he was a complete slob and I was glad to be moving on.

my current roommate I knew from my hometown and through partying, and I must say since moving into the new place with him, things have worked out without any complaints.
unfortunately, he will probably be moving home for the summer, so I'm a little worried about what lays ahead in the future.

I've only lived with one roommate at a time, and I dont think I could live with more than one person.
I like it because there is only one person to deal with and have to worry about (with collecting money for bills and wutnot), and easier to make sure things get done, while still holding onto your privacy.

I have always loved all my roomates except 1 from uni - she was a nut case.

I was friends with all of them before I moved in... and I have been very lucky so far.

My last roomates are 3 of my best friends in the world... and my current roomate is just about the best guy ever and also one of my best friends :)
plus he cleans... bonus :D!!

My roomates I didnt know before but I met them through a friend of a friend.

There are some issues though with me not being able to spin records very often due to the different tastes in music.

Also I hate that they always have there stupid friends over right after I get home from work. All I like to due when I get home from work is put the tv on and nap for a half hour or so.

Also if you don't know them very well and you move into their place you almost feel sometimes that it is theirs and not yours.

I know what you mean. I generally like my 2 new roomates but the music taste difference thing sucks - it's not even close. I miss being able to pound it out without upsetting anyone.

Having an unemployed roomate sitting on the couch everyday when I come home from work is irritating also. He still pays the bills but its nice to come home and have the house to myself once in a while. It could be worse I guess.

I was desprete. I found out that I was suppose to be in a double room (with 3 people!) in one of Laurier's all male dorms. This was not how I wanted to spend my year and so I drove up from NJ 2 days before school started and began searching through the rent ads. My last stop for the day was by far the best I had seen and then I met one of the guys who was going to be living there. He seemed ok. So I signed and hoped for the best. It's kind of nice that I'm about a 20 minute walk form campus because it deffinatly gives privacy (no one would ever walk out here to see me, knowing that they had to walk back). I get along ok with the others living here but we're far from good friends (I have never gone out for anything with any of them). But we all keep to our own and I have the entire finished basement with my own full bathroom so I'm content playing music at 5am when they're asleep and it doesn't bother them. It kind of lonely living in the basement and not really knowing your house mates but I've lasted this long without going completely nuts.

I live with:

Kate: I've known her since first year and lived with her since September of 2000.
Kristy: Kate's sister. I'd only met her a few times before I started living with her.
Christina: One of Kate's roommates from first year.
Stephanie: Another one of Kate's old roommates..

We all get along really well, which is always good. I think that we form a really great group of girls.. we all have different interests, etc. but we have enough in common that we do well together
