i've been waiting to write a proper review about this show since i've been worked up for the past couple of days.
i walked into
the guverment a couple of minutes after 9 expecting to see that the show had already started. karma was definitely on my side monday night because the show still hadn't started and suv was on the decks. nice! he spun a very nice set, full of bristol tunes. rollers, jazzy tunes, vocal drenched numbers....i loved it. i was at the bar when he dropped mine and i thought i was going to explode. at about 10.20 he started pointing to his watch signalling that the show was going to start soon.
reprazent took the stage at about 10.30 and i honestly can't remember which track they started the show off with. i'm thinking it's brown paper bag, but it could have been railing. eitherway it was hype! when dynamite took the stage the crowd went nuts. the crowd was different from crowds i'm used to seeing out but it was cool because everyone was there for one reaosn and it was to enjoy themselves. i was surrounded by people who could not stop smiling. it was infectious.
just when i didn't think the show could get any better..it did. the mix of the crew's biggest tracks was absolutely amazing! yeah, ppl may argue that it wasn't live which defames it but it was still sick. think of any big full cycle or v tune and they played it. nasty!
there was a point in the show when i stopped dancing for a second and just stood there in total awe of what they were doing. for them to be in total synch with eahcother and make it all sound that good live was totally amazing. there were points where i forgot that i was at a live show instead of being in front of a dj and turntables.
the end of the show was great. they played share the fall and their encore was brown paper bag (in england, when we like something, we do it twice...ha). i was sad to see the show end...but i don't think i could take another minute of all that madness
now that i look back at it, the show did one big thing for me. it made me appreciate both cd's even more than i already do, and my respect for the whole crew's talent has seriously increased.
all in all, a great, wicked night. i feel bad for anyone who missed it.
