Ritalin versus Dexadrin (sp?)

Does anyone know the differences between Ritalin and Dexadrin? (dunno if that's spelled correctly)
What do they each do to you that's physiologically different, and which one's 'stronger'? Has anyone done both, and if so, what are the main differences in the feel of them do you find?

dexadrin is more mashy, but ritalin gives you a jittery rush... for best effect, crush 5 of each and insufflate

dexedrine is dextroamphetamine, the strongest of the amphetamine salts next to desoxyn and stronger by a longshot than Ritalin....it is essentially very good, pure pharmaceutical speed with a smooth, euphoric, ampy buzz when taken orally

you're not that likely to have it prescribed by a doctor for ADHD if that's what you're talking about.

I don't recommend snorting pharmaceutical speed, especially if you're looking to avoid that "mashy" feeling or they are for legitimate medical purposes.

If they are time release caps or tabs and you want to get around that you can just crush them up and drink them, instead of burning the shit out your nose and having blue goop dripping out of your nostrils all day.

And ritalin isn't actually speed, it's methylphenidate, a poor cousin who is still curiously liked by some members of family though for the life of you you can't figure out why.

And as for what Tonedeff wrote, I concur with it all.

But, to reiterate: the best way to take speed (including meth) is orally... much smoother, less edgy, and just nice.

Be very careful. I became a dexi junkie in university. Crushed, ate, smoked whatever. Lost almost 50 pounds in 3 months and not the healthy way. While it was great a first for studying, it quickly became a necessity. If you don't have ADD, I wouldn't suggest it.

Yes, that can happen. Best to save dexies for special occasions, like if you must study for 3 exams in 3 days.

I used 15mg time-release dexies every day for a month or so not too long ago. Ran out, felt tired for a few days, and then was back to normal (normal meaning 5 cups of coffee... didn't need those on the dexies ;) )...

If you find yourself taking more and more, and needing to snort them, or smoke them, you have a problem. I would say that goes with just about anything, i.e., if you find yourself needing a drink or two every day... could be a problem.

Catch your addiction EARLY, and it doesn't have to be like that.

They still give it out in the states, but VERY rarely, and probably never to kids under twenty-five...but seriously can you imagine your doctor hooking you up with meth?

As I alluded to above, the problem is not with dexies... it can be with *any* drug, or even with things such as working out, etc.

There is a mythology built around ideas of addiction which I think are highly counterproductive. People aren't held accountable for their actions... it is, rather, blamed on this quality that the drug purportedly has.

Makes it really easy, since the only mistake the addict made was picking up the crack pipe that ONE TIME. After that, you see, since it's so addictive, it's apparently out of their control.

I had 3 friends who prescibed dexidrine which is why I had ample access. Only 1 of them continues to use it today and he take 2 - 15mig capsules a day! If I did 2 - 15mg caps, I'd be up for 2 days straight. I don't know how he does it.

In fact when he runs out of his prescription (cuz you are regimented in how many you are given), he does bumps of jib to compensate. Pretty fucked up if you ask me, but he's fairly on the level.

I took 6 Ritalins in 48 hours to study for my psych exams.
The pills helped me concentrate on my books and I was able to get through almost the entire text before the test.

I got massively bitchy and also couldn't sleep, but thats what you get when you procrastinate for 6 months.

Ritalin is A ok for me!
Who needs ADD to enjoy the wonderful effects of ritalin?

:)

..I agree with most of what you are saying in this thread but...to say to catch your addiction early so that it doesn't get out of hand is much easier said than done. I am more than familiar with being addicted to a drug. I got into the jib rather heavily some years back for several years. It is so easy to find yourself way in over your head with jib. I have a very strong personality.....I am very strong minded....not to mention the fact that I didn't get into it until I was 23....it is a very powerful drug.....it's not just a matter of mind over matter if you ask me.

Peace

Wow, I've gone away from this thread since I started it this morning. It's turned into an interesting drug lesson. But actually I was asking not on a recreational level, but on a learning level. I was using both for exams, so was just curious. BTW, I just finished my last one...I'm Free! :D I don't really like using either recreationally...it just makes me feel really weird and stoned out, in an odd sort of way for a while...not what I prefer. But I'm done, and can have my ritalin vacation;)

That's exactly my point. You have to know what you are taking, that is to say, educate yourself. Without knowledge, you will snort meth, not take it orally. Without being educated, you will think nothing of binging for days on end.

Addiction isn't really about having a strong personality. It is not the drug against your personality. It is a matter of knowing what the drug will do, and not allowing that to happen. That's education.

You know, I studied alcohol for two months before I got drunk for the first time. That didn't preclude me from having a helluva problem with it eventually. In retrospect, it seems I got suckered by the "knowledge" of it being legal, and because of its accessibility.

The thing is, I think most people have a drug that they should stay away from. For me, that's alcohol. For you (geminigirl), it's meth. I do every drug you can think of, except one, and I can stop myself short with every one--save alcohol-- before there is a problem.

^^^^I too find it very fascinating. Thanks for that reading, I will definitely take the time to read it. When I was really fucked on jib I began my research on the subject of addiction....very intersting information! I have often thought to go back to College or University to take a program so that I would be qualified to work in a drug rehabiltation centre. I think I would really enjoy that job. The requirements are that you need to be drug free for 2 years to apply for this program....most people who are interested in this schooling are interested because they too were involved in drug addiction and now want to help others who were in their shoes.

True.

I think it should be a requirement to be an addiction counsellor to either have been addicted to a substance, or to have tried at least 5 various ones.

Certain substances are easy to understand, but then there are ones like ketamine, which just can't be explained in a textbook.
