Richie rocked it out nicely - dirty and basey. Besides the hair he even appears to have muscles now too!! wtf?! techno guys with muscles? It will only be a matter of time before he is wearing muscleshirts (mark my words!) and getting tans. Had to leave at 4 because I am another year older now you know. Thanks to This Is London for the very special treatment tonight: drinks, table, stawberries, the works. Wow! And I had a super date too! All that even after a fabulous salad king dinner. A very happy & grateful D.

Wow....this was totally unexpected.

Arrived around 11:30 and there was not much of a line....infact no line. The door guys finally got there shit straight and guestlist was actually in proper affect.....and the bouncers were super polite.....they even greeted us and asked how we were doing....and one guy said please.

The place was still rather bare and most of upstairs was closed. Strange....I thought Richie would pack the place. Although soon enough the place did pack up and at one point it was almost too packed.

I give an A+ for the crowd...no hochie mamas or steroid jerks. And it was good to run into some familiar faces and meet some new ones. And it was good to see that everyone around me was having a great time...awesome vibe.

Mr. Gow totally rocked it!! Awesome opener and it really got me moving .....too bad he couldn't spin longer....the second guy(don't know who it was) was pretty good too although the place seriously turned up a notch when Mr Hawtin came on. Dirty dirty dirty beats and I couldn't stop dancing. I saw him last at System over 2 yrs ago and he knocked my socks off and I am so glad he lived up to the expectation. F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!!!

dunno.. I guess I'm super unique in my personal opinion/view.. and too picky, but:
rate of the crowd - "C-". 50% were drunk and totally (!) unaware..
about dresscode in TIL: they tried.. haha
about Grag Gow being minimal dj.. well.. he tried too.. yeah.
Troy Pierce - YEAH BABY :D Very nice fresh stuff..
Marc Houle - pretty good, sometimes Really (!) good, but sometimes not as good as I would've wanted it to be.. but overall I was dancing. Especially at the end ! Awesome !
Richie had everyone in advance ! But not me ! :D
I’m the picky one, remember ? So yeah.. picky me, actually, enjoyed his set very much ! So Richie, here's my A+ to you ! You are still the man ! :)
Magda.. oh Magda.. why would you do this to us, to your poor fans ? What was that thing with sound ? Who da heck asked them to turn it up freakin loud so that it was almost impossible to stand on the dance floor ? My ears are still in pain, man ! But the music she played was so awesome that I got very frustrated that I can't be on the dance floor and actually enjoy it. So we just left.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!! >:p

In general, I still (regardless all these little things that quite affected my mood) enjoyed the party and I was quite happy to finally get a chance to listen to my heroes ! I've been looking forward to this quite a long time so it was very hard to disappoint me.. :)

ps: I guess I'm too picky, huh ?
ps2: Shacked Troy Pirce's hand, said that I'm his big fan ! :D ..then Magda took him away.. haha ! ;) She lost a lot of weight, btw, and now looks super hot ! :)

I cringe reading this...be careful.
My ears still hurt from my last trip to TIL...a month ago.

LOL! at C- / unaware crowd. dood.. it's TIL. (for a techno jam)

patrick.. you talk the talk, but when it comes down to it, you don't even go to any techno parties!

god forbid a genre of music be exposed to new people! and here i thought it was just supposed to die out after all the old crusty whiney people kicked it.

So drunk. I think I saw Spence.
Spence is like an apparition that only appears after 5 beers hold hands in your gut and conduct a séance.

I missed Richie yet again. Sounds like a good time. Poop.

Sounds like fun. My will to party and my exhaustion fought a fierce battle over this one - it was down to the wire, but ultimately the tiredness prevailed. Glad to hear it was a good time. :)

I'd rate the night as 'ok, but not amazing'. I still had a pretty good time, but wasnt really blown away. Troy Pierces set was my fave of the night, Hawtin at times sort of ran off on tangents that lost me. I still enjoyed it, but wasnt 'wow'.

I would of liked Magdas set if she hadnt destroyed the levels. When she went on the decks, I ran to the back of the club to get as far away from the speakers as possible (with earplugs in) because it felt like they were about to break.

Loud, muddy, distorted, clipping -- I left shortly after she started. I wanted to stay, but I value my hearing more. Did she crank it by mistake and lower it later? Either way, she was playing her signature bubbly-bouncy sound and I wish I could of stayed around it.

Whoever said TIL has 'the best sound in Toronto' needs to get their head out of their ass. Just because a system is loud, doesnt mean its good.

Marc Houl was good, but seemed to lack a bit of the same 'uNF' that Troy did, but I still thoroughly enjoyed his set. I also liked Greg Gow also, had me up and dancing pretty early in the night.

I can't believe Magda, who's probably played on some large rigs to say the least, maxed teh system out that bad - it's the first thing you learn when playing out!

Too much damn fun was had last night, from start to finish. First time hearin' Richie, and I was pickin' up what he was puttin' down...really enjoyed it.

And to whoever said the crowd didn't have a you, maybe you should actually open your eyes next time you're out, cause from my vantage point, the crowd was goin' NUTS at times, one of the best 'up for it' crowds I've seen @ TIL.

Awesome night out, good to see many friendly and familiar faces...werd!

I popped in for a bit, and had fun time. Troy Pierce's set was SICK...loved the tunes he was playing. Stayed a bit for Richie, and he was droppin' bombs from the get go...but was tired so decided to bounce.

Never been to This Is London before, and really dug it. The decor and layout are amazing, and the staff were really friendly (line moves fast too). And I think it's great that different people are being exposed to techo etc. with these Friday night jams.

So I decided to come out to this last minute. I was there in time to see Richie pick up the pace and he played nearly exactly what I expected him to play: a lot of growling bass lines, playful and atmospheric stabs and melodies, some of which was reminiscent of his DE9:transitions album. I've seen Hawtin about 5 times now, so I was particularly interested to see his partner in crime Magda play. She picked up the pace reasonably nicely (though even harder would have suited me fine :D ) and introduced what I thought was a lot of really bright tracks with more assertive drums, snares and sharper bass kicks...tasty business. :)

i had to leave cause of the crowd, ritchie was awesome though. like alex said, dirty, growley, bass heavy stuff. not at all what i was expecting, it was really fun to dance to. i really wish that my mood wasn't ruined by people constantly pushing up to to the front, only to turn around back three minutes later. i really, really liked the music, it's just too bad i coulnd't ignore it.

Had a great night partying with Alex D on his b-day . The club treated Alex like royalty. (as they should) I really must go to more parties with him. As we arrived at the club we were escorted to our very own table. Free drinks all night and a great view of the DJ booth. Alex totally rolls in style!

As for Richie… I’ve been to more of this shows that I can count and has been a total disappointment for the past few years. Friday was a total surprise – the man rocked the house. Good to see he still has it in him. Good show - loved it!
