Resident Evil--Who's seen it?!

I just watched a 'pirated' copy because I'm too lazy to go see it in theaters... but

What the heck was that? The ending WTF?
I don't know much about the video game but what a weird movie.

Can someone fill me in?
It was rather entertaining, but it's like watching Requiem for A Dream for the first time. Help me understand.

I assume there will be a sequel?

I heard they're going to shoot for a sequel.

Haven't seen it, but will most likely see it next week.

Comes after my list of must sees:

Blade 2
Panic Room
Death To Smoochy.

Ughh, Resident Evil was sooo bad.

I can't believe you thought it was entertaining!! It tried too hard to be cool, it tried to flood the viewers mind with anticipation but only succeeded in flooding it with frustration.

1/3 into the movie, the main character asks one of the swat guys "What's going on?" and he explains the entire plot, using a laptop computer complete with animations to help people understand. Hmm, that's fucking retarded if you ask me.

The special effects weren't even good. That monster thing looked like utter crap.

This movie wasted 2 hours of my life. (Most abused bad review phrase ever)

I'm never going to see a part 2 if there is one.

 <-------- Why can't this movie be like Mortal Kombat?

i would rate it as the worst movie i've seen this year (next to john q of course). i kept waiting for michael jacksons thriller song to be played when all those dead people came to life.

Resident Evil and Requiem For A Dream should never ever ever be mentioned in the same thread... unless you were talking about movies that are absolutely nothing alike or something like that. Or maybe if you were talking about Jennifer Connelly vs Mila Jovovich... (Jennifer > Mila)

Meh, i don't know what you're on about. I for one enjoyed myself watching this movie. True, it's not in the same category as Requiem for a dream, but what movie is? It was by far one of the better "horror" movies i've seen in a long time. I actually did get scared a few times during the movie, and I can't remember the last time that happened! For that alone, this movie deserves some credit. I certainly do NOT regret a penny i spent on the ticket.

marc..
ps. plus Mila Jovovich was in it ;)

Well, Mila is pretty, but she's dumb as a post. Jennifer, on the other hand, is good looking, *and* she's smart too.

Plus she has big tits.

MARCin, would that be *scared* scared or just...*jolt* scares (ie; all very quiet, then all of a sudden big loud noise and a cat pops up from no where, so obviously you jump in your seat)

that does not a good horror movie make.

not even a thriller.

The reason I mentioned the two movies together is well, they both left me feeling weirded out. Mind you I tried watching Resident Evil again, but it's just not worth it.
Requiem, I watched for a second time and it's great.

... but I'll see the RE sequel if it comes out, hopefully it'll make more sense.

I like zombie movies and to have one done with a decent budget released in theatres, it was really a no-brainer for me to decide to see it.

However, the term "no-brainer" does apply to the substance of the movie. Other than the basic premise (zombies run amok in a contained environment) there's nothing really to recommend it to non-zombie lovers. Unless you count Milla Jovovich.

The movie did rely on the cheesiest of scare tactics, and the soundtrack telegraphed everything from a mile away.

Unfortunately even as a zombie flick the film is wanting. Event Horizon was gorier than this, for heaven's sake. Why produce an R-rated zombie movie with no explicit gore? Paul Anderson needs to review Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead before making the sequel. Or better yet, let George Romero do the sequel. Even the lightest parts of Dawn of the Dead were filled with more tension than Resident Evil.

As for the ending, that was worth the entire hour and forty minutes.

i heard on the radio that it will be soon. down from an x, to nc-17, and finally cut enough to get an r rating. i don't like horror/gore movies so i don't think i will check it out eventhough i was a white zombieite back in my skidly days

Resident Evil got scaled back in the gore dept. at the last minute as MPAA and many other film boards are currently backlashing against horror violence and the like. Expect a bloodier "director's cut" when the DVD gets released.

From the Ministry of that's why.

Wow, i can't believe i'm the only one that doesn't think this movie sucked. And i'm usually hard to please as far as the gore movies go. And the funny thing is, i didn't even know it was suppose to be a gory flick until i started watching it! So which horror movies did u guys actually like that came out somewhat recently, say in the past year or so?

As far as the "house of a 1000 corpses" goes, yeah, i wonder if they will ever release it. The preview doesn't look half as scary as it apparently is. For those of you who haven't seen it, check it out: http://www.houseof1000corpses.com/index2.html#
