Repeat thread: what happened to Photopoint?

Okay, it's been down for a while now and I need to use it.

I didn't read the last thread and there's no search button anymore.

So what's the deal with Photopoint?
I want my money back.

And what's free, has good pic quality when you upload them and is relatively easy to use?

if you have rogers@home why don't you just use the free webspace you get with the account? sure you'll have to build up a web page if you wanna showcase your pix - but that really isn't all that difficult.

you get 10MB worth of space which should hold plenty o' pix.

Okay, will someone answer my question please? Thanks.

I have 300 pics on there that have been fixed up, uploaded and sized.

And I have a 56K modem and even if I did have Roger's, I'm not computer literate enough to upload them to a server.

Photopoint was supposed to be my portfolio.

Sorry, this is really pissing me off since I use it for my portfolio.

Fuck.

I want answers dammit! Or does anyone have the photopoint email address?

It went the way of the dodo.

I just switched to Imagestation - it even lets you link to your pics in full size.

your service provider should also have free webspace. try emailing or phoning them - who do you have web service from?

i'm sure that you can find a friend or 20 to help you out with uploading and shit. once you're shown it's not that difficult. and sometimes your web provider will have a handy uploading tool through your browser or sompin'

Once a company like that asks for a service charge, I'd have to suggest it's on the verge of bankruptcy... Simply because there's 100 other sites that will provide the same service for free.

There's no way Photopoint was going to maintain a profit margin by charging for a service that would be free to someone willing to do a 2 minute web search.

Hey MoFo,

One of my best friends used to work at PhotoPoint. They are going down and going down fast. They have been cutting employees and costs like crazy over the past six months. I think that they basically bit off more than they could chew when the market was looking oh so good about a year or two ago. If you drop me a line at funkywanderer@hotmail.com I'll give you an email that you can get in touch with him. He can probably give you an email that you can use to get in touch with somebody, although at this point I don't know that it will help much.

Shouts from the south,

James
