Oh Marky Mark was insane!!
..throwing the sickest traxx at the begging crowd. I think this one was even better than his set at Turbo a couple of months ago (i know it's hard to acknowledge that it is possible)

Exellent venue. Not too hot (air conditioning) Pretty big, nice floors, almost no security, big big system.
Mad shouts to all Lifeforce crew who that made this event happen. You are the best guys!

I didnt see too many people from tribe though. About ~10 max. Considering the size of this party and marky's popularity, there was practically no tribe representation.

p.s.
big ups to my crew!
J-big.. i wanna see some posts goddamit

I thought this was a really good party, though I wish I could have been more into the music.
I arrived at about 11 o'clock to catch Unknown Souljah, followed by Mystical and Sniper and thoroughly enjoyed their sets.
Shy fx was alright, but nothing special. I didn't like his track selection very much. Now Dj Marky...WOW! is all I can say. This was my first time seeing him live, and I must say he was great. I thought his tracks, mixing and scratching were just excellent. We must have him back in T.O. in the near future.
Now the venue, Digital, was a nice change. I haven't been there in over a year, and thought that it wasn't too hot at all and not overly crowded. If you looked hard enough, you could find enough room to dance. But alas, there was no bar! That was my only disappointment with the venue.
I unfortunately had to leave half way through Dj Marky's set, but all in all I found that this party was well worth my time and money.

Hey Club Digital -- I want my marker back dammit!

Haha! Just kidding. Although my marker was taken from me at the door because I apparently look like some talented graffiti artist and there's so much to graffiti inside club Digital considering the walls are BLACK! but anyways...

I hate b2b shiite. Unknown Soldier and Lush are so different that it just seems like they cut off each other's flow and you never really get a chance to get into a flow without it being interrupted. Same goes with Mystical and Sniper b2b. I got to the party at 10pm and I was bored till' 12:30 when Shy came on.

Big up to the Shy FX. He didn't go in as much as he could have but he still dropped some mad chunes that I was really happy about. There's this one tune that gets me so hard -- it sounds like the Destiny's Child but it's not...just girlie vocals to a great beat. He played that and I was happy =) Also, Shy's outfit was killer! Super stylin' matching hat and shirt. Very classy. (i'm slightly superficial sometimes -- somebody stop me!)

Marky was great. Pure energy and rhythm. I can't really go into detail about his set cuz it was just a pure smooth and hype flow. Thas all I have to say 'bout that.

I left right after Marky. I'm not into b2b as I mentioned above. I'd rather just catch Marcus / Everfresh on their own nights doing their own sets proper.

Club Digital -- nicely fixed up. When you gonna get a liquor liscence?? (i don't drink) but i think if there was a bar there it would be better.

On a final tip: big ups to the Renegades crew. Shy FX is always a treat and Marky, well that was just like a cherry on top of a wicked fucking sundae. The b2b shiite -- that's like running out of chocolate ice cream and substituting with vanilla -- still good, but the chocolate (individual dj sets) would be a lot better.

i was really tired after the tribe party on the friday, followed by my 2 hours of sleep and 11 hours of work on the saturday, but somehow i got dragged out to this event. i figured, why not, i'm on the guestlist, and i should flyer at it.

as much as i loved marky when he came to turbo, i really wasn't too hyped to hear his set. the first little part of his set was good, but it was what i expected. mid-way through his set though,... let the groove begin. so many sweet basslines and sexy lyrics. the brasil tune tore the place up. no rewinds, he just let the beautiful tunes play out. one track in particular kept playing for at least 10 minutes and those of us that appreciated the soulful beats danced our little asses off until it was over. i was even disappointed that he started the next tune; i think that he could have let it play all night.

such a nice surprise to hear most soulful and jazzy sounds at a big party. i might start going to jungle parties again.

it got jazzy?
too bad. i spent most of that set in the breaks room, thinking the monotonous hardstep would never end... most of all the sets actually. there were some tracks that got played like 6 times (not including rewinds, heh).

and the downstairs (and most of the upstairs) were way too hot.. i spent more time than i wanted to sitting down and every time i did, someone near me got busted.

i never liked that venue (except for the excellent chilling facilities). it's not very good for jungle; bass gets distorted and drums disappear. at least they didn't use the strobes too much.

oh, and the crowd downstairs was kinda thuggish for my needs. a few too many people and way too many people walking around representin the wesside newmarket crew. but when i could find a space that wasnt too hot and crowded and hear drums that weren't two-step, it was good...

OK, OK...bringin' da noise!!!! sorry, i don't yet have internet access at home - gotta do all my posting at work...on company time, of course!

GOOD, GOOD times at this party...sic, sic beats...i don't think i sat down once all night! i danced my arse off...and man, did it feel great!!!!!

it all started with d-monic (yup, dr. breakenstein himself!). i went to this party with the intentions of busting moves to jungle, but couldn't tear myself away from this set...sooo many of my favourite tracks. it was especially nice to hear *rock the discoteque* - a classic i haven't heard in AGES! and let me tell ya, dan was really getting into it...whoopin' it up, raisin' the roof...he put on quite the show behind the decks - great to see!!! my only complaint was the HEAT upstairs - even just standing around, you'd become drenched with sweat...ick!

anyway, i finally managed to break...away from the breaks...with a little convincing from my junglist friends (thanks matt and alex!)...and also the mad bass resonance that was calling me through the floor. i made my way downstairs for marky....and am i grateful that i did! man, nothing can compare to the madness that takes place in the midst of the jungle massive! yea, my jungle passion has returned!!!! i spent the rest of the night right there...until the lights went on.

the venue was good - downstairs, anyway. there was enough room to dance without bumping into people, and it wasn't hot like upstairs.

sorry i missed you starr...air-bag didn't tell me that you were there!!!!

and thanks so much for the lift, air-bag...that drum 'n bass we listened to on the way home was sweeeeeeeeeet. hey, are you in for total science on friday?

the only thing missing from this party was headwinds - where were you?????

born-again-junglist-j.

After the cancelled 3 year party last year, Renegades finally comes back with its 4 year event. This party was definitely worth the wait.

Enough rumours and speculations floating around regarding the venue for the party, but no one expected it to be held at Digital (formerly known as X-It niteclub.) It was a nice change from the usual. I haven't been at that place for at least a year. I just remember how decent that place was for a mid-sized party. Not too crowded at all. I'd say just the right amount of people in attendance. Always enough room to dance. Absence of a 19+ VIP room was a disappointment.

Sound system was pretty decent as well. Seemed to have too much echo and bass when you're standing near the back of the main room, but it seemed alright once you found your way at the front or in the middle. The double foghorn in the dj booth is somethin' different. Totally hypes up the crowd through its piercing sound.

Set of the night definitely belongs to DJ Marky! Move over Andy C, there's a new bad boy in the d&b scene. I've gotta say probably one of the best (if not the best) jungle/d&b sets I've ever witnessed. Flawless mixing throughout the whole 2 hours, not to mention enough double drops! On top of his excellent mixes, unbelievable scratches, and his inevitable track selection, Marky shows his passion for the music through his showmanship. One of a few dj's I've seen that has that much energy. If you were at the party, you'd know what I'm talking about.

Can't forget to mention MC GQ. Not babbling too much throughout the set and keeping everything flowing. A role model for today's MC's. Also gotta mention Shy FX spinning a decent set. Nothing too special but much better than his previous appearance at Big Bud. Lush/Unknown Souljah as well as Mystical/Sniper alongside MC's Caddy Cad, L Natural & Bandit tore it up as usual.

Props out to the Renegades crew. Looking forward to your next party already.

All i can say is WOW! That party was AWSOME!!!

I loved the change in venue and I also think that they did a great job renevating it. The downstairs has a lot more room since they got rid of the stairs and multi-levels...also the new laser system and the fiberglass, backlit dancefloor was really cool.

But enoguh about that it is all about DJ MARKY. He tore it up!! No body mixes like Marky...i dont even think there was a second when he did not have two tracks overlaping and completly in sync with one another. I can't wait until he is back in TO so i can check him otu yet again.

Special big ups go to Caddy Cadd for brocking it out with me on the dancefloor durring all of Markys set...I know you were feeling it, RESPECT!

Lastlty,
Big ups to DJ Oranges (and the few others that brought air horns) for bringing the air horn and helping hype up the crowd...I cant rember the last time that was done so well since Syrous five year.

To sum it up, the music was phat, the venue was phat, and the place was not full of mashed out kids. Just about everyone was there to have a good time and dance andd that is what happened.

Jesse.

ps - the breaks were sick too!

MASSIVE SHOT OUTS TO THE LIFEFORCE CREW!

I failed to go to this party.

BUT, I heard there were like four strings by the DJ booth that, like, gave off a foghorn sound or someshit when they pulled them?!

Can anyone confirm this? Did any of you see this? Nobody mentioned it in any posts ...

Wow...what a great party! I had such a great time. D-Monic's set was soooo good, he had me shakin my ass tha whole time! It was such a surprise to hear "Rock the Discotheque" I LOVE that track! The crowd was wikkid as well, although the party in the girls washroom was a bit much at times...Definitly a fun night, looking forward to the next Renegades!
