What's that small place on College or Bloor (I get them mixed up sometimes), north side, baby blue sign, they have contemporary takes on classic breakfasts, and their eggs benedict and eggs florentine is to die for???

I think the sign may have a small coffee mug on the picture... I'm thinking of "Bloom" or "Spoon"....

*edit* Oh! Is it BOOM? Is that a breakfast place?

Check out Globe Bistro on the Danforth, my favourite brunch place in the city right now. We went for Mother's Day yesterday and the food was outstanding as usual.

Toast
Bonjour Brioche
Locations?

What about Eggspectations? It's pretty big, you can reserve a table, and there's two locations with easy parking lots nearby. I know it's not as "hip" as College street cafes, but the food is good, and the menu is huge.
That has been suggested, however, I'm coming all the way to Toronto, and I'd rather eat somewhere I *can't* eat at in Ottawa. :)
There happens to be an Eggspectations 2 blocks from my work, and my boss LOVES it, so it's a regular on my route. :/

Boom is an option, if they take reservations... Anyone know? Parking isn't as difficult at that part of College, compared to Maggies/Aunties and Uncles.

Thanks for the suggestions peoples! Keep 'em coming!

Trust me, go to Globe... you won't be disappointed. Food is awesome, excellent service, and the room is beautiful. Check their website for the brunch menu, the sweet vanilla crepes are ridiculous.

I wouldn't recommend Toast or Bonjour Brioche and I live in the area (Leslieville). The service at both stinks and they don't take resos so there will almost definitely be a wait for a table... not a big fan of the food at Toast either. Love Bonjour Brioche but we get their stuff for takeout as it's always a zoo in there on the weekend.

Had an awesome brunch at Cucina on College on the weekend.
Great patio and the food was really good too.

Fav brunch spot still has to be Mitzi's on Sorauren - small space, but worth the wait for a table for sure!!

We were at Toast on Saturday. If you get there before 11 there is no wait. Their Smoked Salmon Florentine was amazing and their potatoes were so damn good.

Agreed that Bonjour Brioche is always a zoo, but it's still damn tasty.

I thought the service at both was fine. The waits may be a little long, but the coffee is good and I think the atmosphere is great for conversation.

Everyone lives to the west of Yonge, so we're trying to stay on the westside - less driving for everyone.

But maybe Sunday, if I find other brunch buddies who like it down east. ;)

So - Boom does not take reservations, and as there are 4 and a half of us (4 adults, one wee baby), it'd definitely be better to be able to reserve a table...

Any other triber suggestions? Somewhere with decent parking, and that takes reservations, on the west side of Yonge?

well, just cause a reserved table means an empty table... until you get there. They wouldn't want to lose the money on the table. Maybe you could volunteer yourself to arrive 20 minutes early to secure a table?

Not gonna happen - I have to fit in a haircut (cuz the stylists here universally SUCK from what I've seen in the last 2 years), brunch with friends, coffee with a birthday friend, dinner with other friends, art buying, clothes-shopping, possibly seeing another couple of friends somewhere in there too, and hopefully a bit of sleep into a day and a half.
eep.

Cora's should take reservations....and their breakfast is really good. Or try Xacutti. There is a large parking lot like a block away at college and Bathurst.

Well, at the Free Times Cafe I've never waited. Wait times at Maggie's and Boom have been brief.

OH OH OH! Go to Paddington's Pump! It's at St Lawrence Market. I've never waited there and it's AWESOME... all fresh from the market.

To each their own, I've given up on Toast (formerly Hello Toast) after repeatedly crappy service and so-so food. Maybe they've changed up their menu though, perhaps we'll give it another shot. Too many brunch options in the 'hood so we're inclined to go elsewhere. Next time you should try Globe and compare the quality of the food/service for roughly the same price.

Also, can't handle the lines at Bonjour Brioche and we live 2mins away so pickup is the safe option for us.

And who manages to go out for brunch before 11am? :D

For grumblegirl, if you're looking for a place central/west try Xacutti on College. Heard good things about their brunch. Mildred Pierce is another option but since they are closing next month it'll probably be a zoo.

How is the dinner at Globe? I'm going there for a birthday next week.

Universal Grill, across the street from my place, and I believe they do take reservations.
As I'm staying with you...

TEH WINNAR! :D

(and they do take reservations - I've already called!)

But there may also be more brunching to be had on Sunday, with less limited geographical options, so the rest of your recommendations have not been in vain. Thanks all.

Dinner is excellent and very reasonably priced. Been twice for dinner so far, can't wait to go back again. Make sure you have the Berkshire Pork Belly & Scallops app.

I should talk to the owner about getting comped, I've been recommending Globe all over the place! :D
