I made some nice pulled pork in the slow cooker. Now I need some excellent BBQ sauce. What is your favorite recipe? I wanna know!

There seems to be a lot of variations in the recipes I am finding via Google. Some sauces are tomato based, some are mustard based, some are thin, some are thick....

What kind of sauces do those vendors at the ribfests use? Tomato-based?

Coffee? That's the first BBQ sauce recipe I have heard of with coffee as an ingredient. Interesting.

Here is a basic recipe I found and I will try to expand on this, maybe adding some liquid smoke and other ingredients.

Barbecue Sauce:
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon molasses
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper

if you used a dry rub on your meats use that as the base

I never cook with measurements, I just taste as I go
-cut up a sweet or sour apple
- place it in bourbon/whiskey
-let it come to a slow simmer when the apples get really mushy remove

add your spices as a base (garlic powder.chillies, paperika, brown sugar, pepper ect)
-add a bit of apple cider vinegar to your liking
-a bit of ketcup/tomato paste to your liking

thats what I usually use for hickory smoked ribs, has a bit of tang/sweet which is usually popular at rib cook offs
