SPAM POLICY - Posting Etiquette on TRIBE

One of the reasons why TRIBE is the largest and busiest nightlife and music focused messageboard community in Canada is because we have strict rules about SPAM. While we welcome new members to the community we do not take kindly to members whose primary purpose is to SPAM, who attempt to collect email addresses of other members, or promote their own commercial interests on TRIBE for free without giving anything back.

The TRIBE messageboard and TRIBE websites are supported by the community through individual paid event listings, but mostly by ad revenue from corporate sponsors who buy banner advertising. We appreciate their support and hope that you will shop at their stores, go to their events, and use their products. Without their financial support the site wouldn't exist. We do not (and never will) sell your user data and contact info to anyone so ad banner and event listing sales are the only revenue we get.

We don't have many rules on the site, but these are the important ones and they concern SPAM. If we consider you a SPAMMER or find you are SPAMMING the board we may ban you and delete all your posts site-wide without further notice to you. Please read the following rules carefully. If you have any questions about our board policy, email me editor@tribe.ca and I will do my best to answer them.

1. We have a way to promote your event or club on TRIBE that helps support the community. It's extremely low cost and an effective way to spread your message to the masses. You can get info on paid event listings and how to be a registered promoter on TRIBE by going here:

2. Do not run contests, prize or ticket giveaways in any forum on the site.

3. Do not offer guest list spots in any forum on the site unless you are a registered promoter and do so in your own event listing thread.

4. Posts to promote products, stores or or other commercial interests are not allowed anywhere on our site unless they are a sale event that is listed in the upcoming events forum.

5. Posts whose purpose appears to be to collect email addresses or email responses will be deleted.

6. The buy and sell forum is a place for individual board members to buy and sell, it is not a forum for retail stores, online stores, or other commercial interests to use to generate sales.

7. URLS in the "location" field in your user profile are not allowed, neither are URLs in the thread title. Using the 'location' field to promote a store, club, event, or other commercial interest is not allowed, definitely uncool, and you can be banned for doing it.

8. A member whose posts' main purpose appears to redirect site traffic outside the TRIBE board with an URL or link to a commercial or retail site can be banned, their posts deleted, and/or or have the URL in their posts blocked site-wide.

9. Do not have another member SPAM for you on our site (proxy post), or share your login information. Likewise, never post commercial interests on the TRIBE board for someone else, a member or non member, because you can be banned for SPAMMING.

10. Do not use the TRIBE Private Messaging System (PM) to SPAM. If we get a complaint from a user that they have been SPAMMED by you with our PM system you will be banned.

11. IMPORTANT! If your post has been deleted do not repost it. It has been deleted for a reason. If it keeps reappearing after it has been deleted you will be banned for sure. If you have read this far and are still wondering why your post was deleted please email the admin editor@tribe.ca and I will do my best to provide an answer for you.

12. Trolls: If you are deemed to be here just to cause trouble for TRIBE members, the mods or the admin you will be banned without further notice to you.

13. Finally, and this is something that applies to all large online communities and blogs on the internet: being belligerent with the mod admin, or trying to pick fights with the mod or admin will get you banned very quickly.
