The student production "Little Raver Grrl" is in dire need of extras for a

We are on a really tight budget (I.e.- almost zero) and the realization of

Yea.. that's what I want to do, perpetuate society's image of what people who listen to electronic music look like.

OTIS,

the scene (according to the drug dealer) is supposed to be a rave circa the early 90's.

now, i don't know if your memory stretches back that far, but most everyone at those events was dressed flamboyantly to say the least.

granted, it wasn't the 'rave uniform' we are familiar with now, but candy gear, in all its incantations was alive and well at that time.

if everyone was wearing their designer rave gear that they bought on queen street, it wouldn't look legit either.

I aknowledge that, but the average viewer is incapable of relating with the changing image of the rave scene.. they still think everyone dresses that way still.

I remember way back then.. although I never partook in the costumy thing.. some of my friends dressed up, but it was unique things like one friend was a darkish Astroboy one time, and another friend braded his hair and put on a Vents paintball mask which made him look erily similar to Predator, that's not flamboyant.. it was unique and definately not candyish.

I just hope the film uses tact..

I remember when that lady from SEX TV came on tribe and asked for volunteers & advice for a segment she was doing on sex in rave culture. I shot a few emails back & forth with her hoping that she was open minded enough to not use the typical cliche's associataed with "Raves". I figure we should do all we can to point any media source in the right direction, especially when they ask for direction.. it's a positive thing. Well, despite me trying to convince her that 'candy' is a small percentage of of the scene's image and does not represent the majority of the people that go dance every weekend, she had it set in her head that this is what RAVE culture is and only is, she would not acknowledge the flourishing diversity within the culture and wouldn't be swayed from the idea that electronic music fans=Candy Kids.

It scares me that a person of the media can be so blatantly ignorant when it's their duty to project images of truth. And where do you think she gets the idea from.. the continual ignorant misrepresentation from past media segments that have bombarded TV and movies over the last few years.

I just wish more discression would be involved when documenting this scene..
that's all.

has anyone heard anything about this film and/or if it will ever be released? I was working at Aria the 2 days they were filming there. It had an Ok turnout and the crew was cool. I wouldn't mind watching the movie if it's around.
