I hate to place the burden on one person, especially when that person is the most winningest coach in NBA history, but I think the Raps need a different type of coach...someone who takes a more hands on approach and is willing to challenge his players if they aren't giving 100%. Sorry Lenny. It's time to move on.

Brilliant.
I don't think Van Gundy's had a good night sleep in years.
Seriously, it's time for a change. After all of the signings this year, the Raptors have to make the playoffs. Especially after last years run.

I think they need a little bit more than Oakley, although he did stir things up.

Wilkins needs to tear a strip off a few people, for starters. And a few of the vetrans need to take a bit more of a leadership role, game in/game out.
I don't think you can honestly expect Vince to carry the entire team, but I do feel his game is lacking somewhat. Time to step it up, otherwise the entire team's going to have a long summer to think about things.

They don't play with any heart...its like they play "nice guy ball" which does not win in the NBA anymore..

No one drives!!!

Seriously, the Raps RARELY get to the charity stripe..all they do is settle for 10 ft jumpers which is trash.

Stormshadow's suggestion to bring in Van Gundy is an awesome one...I too think that Lenny has gotta go, but I could never think of his replacement...until now.

HURTING.

anyone ever notice that lenny never EVER gets up in a referee's face about a bad call? what a pussy.

vince is turning into a little crybaby, too.

fuck em both.

my money's on either dallas or sacramento.

so sad to watch them play. i'm not sure what the hell is happening. maybe they should make a trade to get them to reallize that they are expendable. if you don't play well, you're worth nothing to the team....

but then again, they might get their act in gear when playoffs come... assuming of course they make it into the playoffs...

...

Lenny has gotta go...he just doesn't push them enough....for all the bad about Butch Carter, at least he pushed his players...and Vince...
Now Vince is just a whiny bitch that can't step up to controversy

Agreed with that last point, Lenny Wilkens is also the losingest coach in history...he is the definition of mediocrity...

Van Gundy would be so good for this team. But they need to do something fast...

tis true guys......... the raptors have turned in the most frustrading thing to watch on television lately. I start to get mad watching a team that at some points in the game play like a bunch of stoned teenagers on friday night!

I say the problems are easy to see

- no driving or passing in the lane.
- poor decision making
- no helping on defence

any coach with some clear vision could notice this, I'm pretty sure wilkens notices as well and reminds players to play with more grit.
But since the begining of this season......nobody's been paying any attention to him. So if the players have begun to tune him out!

GET RID OF HIM NOW!!!! AS FAST AS POSSIBLE !!!!!

because this team is just begging for a good shakedown.
Get a new coach that can kick these (grossly overpaid bedwetting cry babies) asses.
and they do need a good one.....

and another thing if Glen Grunwald continues to turn a blind eye to the truth.

that his milti-millionare pet project he calls a basketball team is turning into a bunch slack jawed losers, and doesn't fire Wilkins by tomorrow morning.

GET RID OF HIM TOO!!!

^^ get rid of grunwald? are you fucked?
as close as ten months ago everyone was deeming him a genious, which i still believe he is. what do you want him to do, just trade everyone cause they are having one shit year?

lenny is definately the problem here.
that and we have no true point guard.

vanexcel and lafrentz (sp) would have been SO sweet here.
fuckshitfuck.

other than that, there is no way you can blame glen for any of this.

ohyah, except yogi. and not getting rid of mopete while he still had some value around the league.

It was so hard to watch the end of that game last night. They blew a 17 point lead in the space of a couple of minutes in the 3rd!!!

Carter was on, so was JYD and Keon, they played well for most of the game, but they don't look like they want to get out of that slump, or that they don't believe that they can.

This has gotta end sometimes soon...

A general managers job is to aquire or dismiss personel for the betterment of the team

and we are all in agreement.....

SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!

So why is grunwald hesitating? I think the raptors have been in panic mode since loss number 9.

Just like Wilkins I feel he isn't doing his job for whatever reason(loyalty...etc.)

 I better see Wilkins mug on the front page of todays paper with the word "CANED" or "FIRED" on top of it:mad:

Lenny Wilkens is the problem!

that being said - we can't fire Lenny because we have no one to replace him. we are already paying for Butch Carter this season and therefore can't afford to fire Lenny. it's too late to bring in another coach, so our general manager has publicly stated that he will be with us for the remainder of the year. fine. but it is glaringly obvious that Lenny's lesser-faire style of coaching isn't suited for the leaderless Toronto Raptors.

despite these plain truths - it frightens me to see some idiots in Toronto booing our star player Vince Carter. i was at the Magic game last week and some obvious brainless fans were booing Vince when he didn't dunk the breakaway layup he had after stealing the ball. don't those fools get it that he IS the franchise. the only reason we have lost 12 straight is because he has been injured and still hasn't fully recovered.

it's not looking good for the team. we could easily loose another 4 games on this tough road trip. i think our only possible shot, if we make the playoffs, is to finish in 8th and play the Nets who don't have much playoff experience.

^^ and no half court game. something that is definately a factor in the post season, and definately something the raptors COULD be good at. COULD be.

I think there's something that prevents Jeff Van Gundy from being able coach for this season. Some sort of deal with the Knicks, otherwise I'm sure he would've been hired by some of the hurtin teams already.

I agree Lenny has to go now. He's lost all control of the team. Every night it's the same thing - Raptors up by a bunch, only to lose it.

Ahh well - it doesn't get any easier next game. Toronto at Dallas.
