RAM - Mobo Question

Picked up a new chip, mobo, ram today...

The RAM is DDR 400, and my mobo manual says that it also supports 333

now, I have another stick of 333 kicking about, and an empty RAM slot... will the 400 and 333 play well together?

whats your mobo and chip?
its normally not a good idea, your computer would have to run slower than spec to compensate for the slower ram.

As well most chipsets have 4 ram slots and are usually configured in banks (that is 2 banks of 2, or 4 banks of 1). Banks always have to have the same type of ram in each bank (thus 2 banks of 2 would require 2 sticks of ddr400 in one bank, and possibly two sticks of ddr333 in the other). It is possible to have one stick in the second bank, however most chipsets will not allow you to use the second bank until the first is full.
