Sweet party!
I wasn't sure what to expect at first, as not that many people arrived before 12. But it sure got kicking in time for Pharmakon and Satori! Once again awsome sets. I actually enjoyed this Satori Psy set more then any of the others he has played. Too bad we left shortly after, but we were all zonked.
Wicked decor as ussual.

See ya at the next one!

Impressive!

When promoters say they're going to transform a venue so it looks totally new they usually mean they'll hang a hullahoop or two from the ceiling (sorry szygy.. that was pretty weak).

Clay and crew did by and far the best job i've seen yet on the Reverb. Nice huge projections.. the netting over the dancefloor.. proper lighting.. of course the minions of alienz. Totally themed. nice.

The music of course was killer as usual.

Pharmakon was on when i arrived. I've never heard him before however i've been told good things. Most everyone seemed to be in agreement that this guy must come back. Solid psy.

Satori was on next. I'm sorry.. no one touches this guy when it comes to goa/psy/tech-trance. That was one of the hardest most relentless goa sets i've ever heard. Its always nice to get the melodic stuff in with dark psy.

Quivering Virgin was up next. Only caught part of his set.. was alot more aggresive than his sets have been recently which is good to see. Will definatley have to stay later next time..

The hardcore upstairs was a crazy touch. Respect to the Smerk crew.. and High Voltage.. that euro eminem track is pure jokes. Missed Blue again however i'm sure she twisted everyone into a deep groove. thing.

Overall i thought this was the best R351570R yet.. the following is growing.. the parties get crazier everytime. Much respect to Clay, Hil, and everyone involved..

Next up.. Union of Tribes Dec 31/01

Videos of Analog Pussy were an excellelent touch, and the movie where the guy gets stabbed in the forhead with a syringe... a very nice touch! The decorations were great as usual, but it seemed hotter in there at half capacity than it was last time, at full capacity.

It seemed as though something was missing that night. Music was good, but once again I thought not quite as good as the last two parties. Same goes for Satori, IMO. Overall, it was alright, but just didn't seem to have the usual energy happening.

Ah well.. for once, I am surely looking forward to NYE...

Filming: It's funny you ask... we told them that they were killing the vibe and freaking out the sketchers and to be much less intrusive and get less into people's faces. A friend had his sister doing a vid piece for skule on subkultures and stuff and they wanted footage of the party. They're supposed to get us copies of it. There was a second crew there, also doing a multimedia piece, from McMaster U (my alma mater). There were also a few digicams there, and Ivan (BLA's Mars) brought a regular camera. There was another lady with a regular camera as well building her portfolio. We're supposed to get copies of everything, either by paying for dupes of physical film, or via the Interweb. We'll post as they come in...

Sorry to wake you from your free-dans-tranzienz... perhaps you'll be famous.

About the capacity thing - we did better numbers for Saturday than we did for the AP show, believe it or not. The camo-netting lowered the ceiling greatly, making it feel busier and restricting airflow a bit, too. Sorry to hear that you didn't think that this one was as good - I personally liked what was played more than any yet, and thought that we finally reached perfection on a number of different aspects of the environment. More details and suggestions would be appreciated. I've also got a big debriefing note that I wrote right after that I can send to you, but shan't publish. It's got our books, numbers, and everything that went well/poorly in our eyes. An interesting read, if anything.

Thanks for your support, as well!

6 dj's in 5 hours. Instead of cutting one everyone spun shorter sets.

We're going to longer sets for future parties. The problem is that there are SO many good locals that have all asked for a chance to spin. We've tried to give a veritable plethora of styles and bring in different DJ's each party while still providing your favs like Dam, Jeb, and Satori.

I've got the following on the list for future, but have little in stone from any yet: Nivoc (twisting his arm to spin a goa set - who knows if he will?), Mantra (Phat Conductor), Kodos (Ektoplasm's Scott), Ether (Winnipeg), C-64, Resonoise DJ's for a label party (and perhaps Shakta, Magus or Mekanoj live), Etnica (for Om, depending on proposal and money), Skazi (Feb hopefully, depending on money), Hallucinogen (March or April in conjunction with allies in Montreal), PTK (local PsyTrance act about to put out a first album - opened for Analog Pussy), Twitch, and the return of John Dee, Psiko-Tek, High Voltage, Pharmakon and Jarek.

We've got a great amount of cooperation amongst the Tribes of Psy right now, and with a growing scene that appears to have reached critical mass (338 at Resistor on Saturday), we can think about booking bigger acts and doing more parties. I have heard rumours of TWO monthly parties (one Resistor, one other... guess!) to supplement the regular Saturdays at Area51, as well as a few beach parties planned for next year. The success of the scene, meaning our confidence in bringing bigger names and doing numerous parties, really depends on word of mouth and how many people we know we can count on to support us *hint* *hint*. Spread the word on the Fight to Trance...

Garver.. don't get me wrong, definitely nothing missing on the part of the promoter. And yeah, I think I was organized even better than usually.

My whole saturday was a large ball of weirdness, so maybe I just wasn't in the right mindset when I got there..

Regardless, I'm looking very much forward to your future events, as usual

heh.. dj garver inside.

Wicked to see the psy scene growing during a time when all others seem to still be reeling from all the shit that went down during the summer of 2000. Guess thats partly due to the fact that psy parties never attempt to get bigger.. just better!
As well it hasn't bought into the whole rave industry thing.. like kodos has said.. no international dj mix cd's, no pornstar clothing lines, no mass flyering in Eye magazine.

2002 is definately looking like a prosperous year for the psy community in this city. Major thanks to clayton for breathing some life into the underground trance scene! propz brotha!

yes, this organization is what toronto needs... big plans, a grand design, capable execution of these visions, commitment and dedication... hopefully this will be the 'push' that the situation requires for sustainable growth. full respekt.

the party? quite good. you know my feelings and i don't really feel like giving anyone something to print in their "magazine"

also it should be noted that i spin under the moniker "basilisk"...
