sorry stacey... but the queen was a phony bitch who slaughtered her own daughter because i pretended that said daughter (who was also a bitch) told me about a bunch of pedophiles in this one county. and the daughter got a song made up about her having the guts to tell me about it after she died. ask um... d.code i think. he was there..
I'm currently in the UK visiting fam over the holidays. Everyone I've talked to about it is saddened by her death (3:15pm) but expected it and know she lived a long life...to see 100 years go by! Word is that after Margaret died she was bound to go soon, chest infection, I'd rather go in my sleep like her than any other way. Oh, and Go Oxford! Hot rowing boys were probably the last thing she watched on telly...rest in peace mum...

I met her in 1989 at the Royal Winter Fair, but was completely oblivious to who she was. I was too busy playing with these toy tracters in this heap of grain to pay much attention to the 'old lady' that was standing watching me...afterwards my mum had to explain it all to me.
She was definitely the warmest and most vibrant member of the royal family.

The royal family does nothing. Other than marry their second cousins, take photos with their corgies and go on ski trips. It really is a wonder how they look halfway decent (Charles excluded of course) with so much interbreeding going on...how did they get William to look so good? (bad couger thoughts, oh no!). I really think that they'll lose all state titles once Charles becomes king, long live Queen Camilla? I don't think so!

the queen's role is pretty much symbolic, other than charity work. she summons and dissolves parliament, she appoints people (like the prime minister, high ranking military officers, etc) to office (she doesn't make the actual decisions, she just performs the ceremony), she's the 'head of state' and gives royal assent to english laws. i think she's also the commander in chief of the armed forces, and the head of the church of england.
but like i said, she doesn't really make the decisions. other people (like elected politicians) basically make them in her name.

how is this the first step towards the end of fascism? it was the queen mum, not the queen. this is going to change nothing whatsoever about the monarchy in england, other than spawning maudlin tabloid articles for the next few weeks, and an insanely expensive televised funeral.
