I went to PROMISE RAVE and had a good time.

Some of my friends were there. We tried to hook up but couldn't find eachother.

The music was better than the last time - my favourite dj, I forgot his name was spinning and I caught the last 10 minutes of his set before my girlfriend made me go home because she was sick.

All in all, it was a good time. Even though my wallet was stolen.

I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

Everyone seemed to be having a good time...I always love the Promise tradition with everyone having sparklers at midnight. I met some cool people there that looked like they were really enjoying themselves. It was nice that there was an attendence cap at this party so it wasn't too packed and there was room to dance.

My set had some major issues due to the tables skipping so much. The system bouncing and so were the floors. Mr Ian Guthrie played some really nice music that had the crowd rocking.

All in all a good NYE

Overall, I had a fun time at this event.

We arrived around 11:30 and got to hear the start of Legion of Green Men's set from outside. The did some tracks from "Spatial Specific".. with a twist... lots of breakbeats, which was nice. They finished up a bit after midnight and then the music went all blah (for lack of a better word).

The music was some loungey house followed by what can be descirbed as ambient dnb - I totally couldn't find my groove and it definitely wasn't music that got the crowd going.

However, the event picked up around 2:30 when Lee took the decks, and picked up even more after his set when Ian took over. I left before mentalfloss came on.

I'm still scratching my head, trying to figure out why the dancey, banging music was on much later in the night!

The venue was sweet: space to dance, space to sit, low key lighting, and a bouncy dance floor! Awesome! The sparklers at midnight were pretty cool too. My only complaint was with having two washrooms for 300 or so people. The line ups were insane!

Peace,

Sabina

I agree the venue was nice, The boys put a lot of effort in the event before hand to make it look super. The bouncey floors however made my life a living hell.

i personally had a fucking amazing time...sooo much fun.. I enjoyed all the music, the vibe blew my mind... everyone was having a great time it seemed to me.. I got there at about 11 and stayed till 4 or shortly after...
and ya the the only bad part was the washroom line...I certainly did feel bad for the dj's with the tracks skipping like that...

and some dude smoked me a nice big joint just for filling up his water bottle!! come on now..

can't wait for the next event..

peace

DMS was on when i got there....not feelin the DnB...

...only recognized a few faces. everyone posing. no one dancing. (no room either)

left after one drink.

shoulda scalped my ticket beforehand...had much better time at my house...where the music was techno, electro and house.

Found a ticket last minute! (Thanx Mit!)

Not much dancing but good conversations all night... lots of friendly people with interesting stories... also made the bathroom line-ups more bearable :D . I liked the thought-provoking literature on the bathroom walls - perhaps people got busy reading those instead of doing their business!

The music was good and varied but took it's time getting going. I didn't mind but I think some people wanted to get it on sooner. The skipping was frustrating but given the setup you can't really complain. $2 water = good deal.

To whoever the guys that live in the space... THANX for sharing it with us! :)

A nice way to start a new year!

This was a fun party with a good crowd. The place was nice and although it was sold out you still had enough room to dance and to get around. Their was certainly a problem with skipping records & they could have used a couple more washrooms but all in all it seemed like most everyone was enjoying themselves.

hey, this review is hilarious - like a fill in the blank review from people who may or may not have attended. Here's mine:

I went to the show at the EATONS CENTRE. The flyer said that SANTA CLAUS was performing. Even though i was BROKE and HAD AN EXAM, i had to go - he FUCKIN OWNS/RAWKS and only seems to come to town ONCE A YEAR from THE ARCTIC.

The lineup to the venue was HUGE, but I knew the DOORMAN, so i got right to the front. OHMYGAWD, there were so many CUTE BABIES there. I made my way to the SNACK COUNTER and immediately downed 8 MULLED CIDERS, then I was primed for the action.

After that I made my way to the MAIN ROOM and SANTA CLAUS was A NO SHOW. This situation FUCKEN SUCKED, but some great locals did a wicked job and every one had a good time. There were some great FESTIVE DECORATIONS in the main room, shout outs to MICHOL HOLTZMAN. But after a while the crowd was so TIRED they were all CRYING TO THEIR MOMMIES AND SNIFFLING and it sort of thinned out.

I give it a 15/23. I hear that this is a YEARLY EVENT, so i hope he doesn't no show next year.
