well it is kind of political. The Jane's Addiction I'm listening to was from the canceled concert tour that happened because of the last election. Basically Perry had arranged a concert tour and before tickets went on sale he canceled it do to 'lack of ticket sales'. The reality was that fair grounds refused the show because of its anti republican message that they didn't want to support.

so its political!!

The velvet underground is just so I can remember feeling like the jesus son

They're likely to tour again I wouldn't be to worried. Eventually Carmen Electra will dump Nevaro's ass and he'll need the cash again. Perry is always willing to whore himself for the right price.

The Jams - Going Underground

Something's happening here today
A show of force with your boys brigade
And I'm so happy and your so (kind?)
You want more money of course I don't mind
To by nucular* textbooks for atomic crimes
And the public gets what the public wants
But I want nothing this society's got
I'm going underground....

*intentional misspelling by me, however the sound does seem to pronouce it as nucular - which is creepy considering how long ago it was written/sang

"Agenda Suicide", and "Symptom Finger" by the Faint. "Agenda Suicide" has a really good but fucking bleak / depressing video. "Symptom Finger" makes some good comments about pharmaceutical adds on tv ("now that they tell you what you've got you feel it coming on..")

"Golden Path" by the Chemical Brothers also has a great video, much the same as "Agenda Suicide" but with a satirical instead of defeated tone. I think the flaming lips were contributors.

I liked "The leaving song II" by AFI, and "Helena" by My Chemical Romance (especially with the videos) for the sheer emotion of both. They are a little high school though ch33se

i listen to music in order to escape from politics/current affairs for a bit.. with the exception of the odd bit o' hip hop, no thanks.

but, though i'm not currently listening to it, 'Gil Scott-Heron - B Movie' is a good 'n' funky one.

Everlast; Whitey Ford Singe The Blues: 04 - What it's like.

Everlast said:
"We've all seen the man at the liquor store, beggin' for your change
The hair on his face is dirty, dreadlocked, and full of mange
He asks the man for what he could spare with shame in his eyes
Get a job you fuckin' slob's all he replied

God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in his shoes
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to sing the blues
Then you really might know what it's like
There's this saying in Romanian: "God forbid that God ever shows you how much you can really handle" This song reminded me of that. The expression "god forbid" was really popular in my family, but I haven't heard it in ages.

Martina :
I got a letter from the government
The other day
Opened it and read it
It said they were suckers
They wanted me for their army or whatever
Picture me givin a damn, I said never
Here is a land that never gave a damn
About a brother like myself
Because I never did
I wasnt wit it, but just that very minute...
It occurred to me
The suckers had authority
Cold sweatin as I dwell in my cell
How long has it been?
They got me sittin in the state pen
I gotta get out, but that thought was thought before
I contemplated a plan on the cell floor
Im not a fugitive on the run
But a brother like me begun, to be another one
Public enemy servin time, they drew the line yall
They criticize me for some crime

I got a letter, I got a letter, I got a letter
Picture me given a damn, I said never
Mmm...mmm...mmm
It occurred to me

On the strength of situations, Im real.
