"Now is the time, not to sit and boast, all for one, I propose this PLUR - buttered toast."
To the Halifax Police Commission this May, with our community in disgrace."
We serve to you our petition, of Civil Liberty Jam made of Cut and Paste!!
Cheers!!
TO: The Nova Scotia Police Commission
WE ,the residents of Nova Scotia and the world community, draw the attention of the Nova Scotia Police Commission to the following;
THAT, the joint actions of the Halifax City Police, and The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, violated civil liberties by forcing a strip search of 34 individuals hired as volunteers and staff, at a Halifax Rave on January 29,2000, were illegal.
THAT, the smell of marijuana, should have not been a pretext for conducting the body searches, while conducting a search warrant for the building.
THAT, both the Halifax City Police, and The Royal Canadian Mounted Police who conducted body searches on the 34 individuals, be held responsible, and accountable, for their conduct.
THEREFORE, we ask for an apology, or an admission of accountability, be submitted to the victims of the strip searches, by both the Halifax City Police, and The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, for these civil liberties violation.
The Undersigned,
