Holy mother of jesus. Those will look amazing on your car.

Yeah agreed... checked them out in person today and they are just killer. Will have them mounted end of March if I can hold out that long.

Hmm, the c63s I was interested in either have deposits on them or have been sold.

Switching gears, I'm looking into doing an LSx swap into an s2000. Why do I have ADHD with this shit? lol I need something that will inevitably be able to hold a baby seat, though. This does not fit the bill.

LOL, you're a bit all over the place dude. From experience I'd recommend you stick with some form of 4 door sport sedan, particularly helpful with a baby + baby seat for the first few years. My two M3s and C63 were great fun cars and the 4 doors helped with the wife acceptance factor.

Now that my daughter is older 2 doors is less of an issue as long as it had some form of back seat... hence my current car. :D

Yeah, I came across that dealer recently. I'll take one of everything!

I'm on the hunt for a stock, well maintained W210 E55. Hoping the market picks up with the weather 'cause it's slim pickings right now...

$20K for that RS4 Avant?? Seems too good to be true esp given the kms.

But that B5. The notorious engine with the timing chain in the back of the engine coupled with plastic guides.

Yeah, cool selection, but I would definitely closely inspect anything out of there. At a glance they look pretty good, but some things are definitely fishy with some of them

Ooo, nvm. I guess it was the v8 S4s that had the timing chain issue.

Still, that seems ridiculously cheap for an RS4. Something has to be up.

Did you contact them for the price? I don't see a price listed on the RS4 Avant unless I missed it... if so damn x2. Wouldn't that be a nice winter beater!

Speaking of RS4 I saw a nice white one yesterday at my detailer, some guy was getting it cleaned up prior to selling. 2007 with manual transmission, if only they were down in the $20-25k range.

Well I got me a pretty sweet W210 E55 on the weekend!

98k, never winter driven, rarely rain driven and 73k of those kms were in the first 2 years of it's life when it was new and under warranty.

Aside from a couple of minor scratches it pretty much looks and drives like a brand new car.

Can't wait to get it on the road!

I've never gone wrong with michelin pilots. Anyone have any compelling reasons why I wouldn't put a set of pilot supersports on this thing?

It's been a while since I swung by tribe and checked out the ride thread. Good to see its still alive and well. Our existing lease is coming up in a year but with all the problems the CLA45 has caused me, I am looking to get out early if possible.

We decided as much as we love the speed and fun of the CLA45 our next car will be a little more practical for our lifestyle. We take our bikes, paddles boards and cats up the cottage country often so this is currently on our radar. Took it out for a test drive over the weekend and fell in love. I never imagined owning a BMW but I can't deny just how perfect this car is for our every day use.

2016 BMW 328i Touring with M Sport. After talking with the dealer, we can build our car to this spec, although I am not sure if I can get those specific rims. Either way I like how the lip and side skirts just give it a little something extra.

If you have two minutes, this is what I would ideally like my build to look like...

328i Touring riding on vossens lol. No idea how to embed this video, sorry guys.

Thanks. I've seen that one and a few others. Not as much actual repair stuff as I'd like compared to some other sites. Different demographic I guess. The local MB dealer is going to see if he can get a service dvd for me and if not I might grab one of the ones off ebay- has anyone here tried the wis dvds available on ebay?

I'm taking this one to the same shop as my other cars!

Congrats, post pics! And I'm 100% with you on Michelin Super Sports, had them on my M3 & C63 and likely looking at a set to replace my Pirelli P-Zeros once I kill them this summer. IMO the MPSS offers the best combination of grip, wear, wet/dry performance, noise, etc. Unless I do something stupid and get Pilot Sport Cup 2's it will be MPSS all the way for me on any remotely fast car.

What issues have you had with the CLA45? Sorry to hear, I recall you were pretty enthused when you first got it but has been a while. Mechanical problems or just too many tickets? :)

On the F30 wagon, those are nice particularly in M-Sport trim. I spec'd out one very similar to the pic for my wife but she isn't into wagons so not gonna happen. Pretty sure those rims are part of the M-Sport package too. While I'm not the best person to ask in general the 3 series isn't quite as revered as it used to be, they drive nice and all but IMO missing something from the E90/E46 days. Not to mention the wagon is 4 cylinder turbo + AWD + automatic only... manual, rear drive, turbo six would be that much better.

That said really not many other options for a sporty wagon these days given there are like 5 SUVs for every car model out there. In fact I can't think of anything else that comes in a wagon in that price range.

Thanks for the feedback. I've never had the supersports, but I've had at least 5 sets of pilots in various forms and all of them were great. I've had p-zeros too and while I liked them I've heard a lot of folks had balance issues (I never did). I think I'll call and order a set this week. The $70 spring rebate starts tomorrow for anyone else that's looking.

I just had a conversation regarding pilot SS vs sport cup last night with my uncle. He's looking for new tires for his TT Supra. The cups do look pretty cool but I seem them as more of a track tire you can take on the street and the SS are a street tire you can take on the track. Do the sport cups even come with a treadwear warranty? (not like the 25k on the SS is huge, but it's something)

I haven't even taken any pictures yet! It's completely stock, doesn't even have tint so pretty much any mb press photo from 2000 looks like mine! It's silver (surprise, surprise) with the AMG black/grey perforated leather.

The CLA45 has been less than stellar which is so unfortunate for my first step into luxury vehicles. I understand the CLA45 is an entry level AMG and Benz for that matter but I did not expect this many problems.

Turbo replacement after failure while driving
all new motor mounts
new turbo heat shield
new exhaust heat shield
brakets for heat shields have been replaced twice
new panoroof rails
two new Recaro seats
Countless software updates and repairs to the transmission
Constant creaking within the cabin of the car. Many attempts to install felt pads to minimize noise but failed attempts.

I think that's it so far after 2 years of ownership.

We have loved the car and most of those problems do not effect the drive ability but our list of must haves in a car is changing from power to function. I would like the perfect combo of both (E63 Estate) but I just can't afford that car. The wife will not move to an SUV so a wagon makes the most sense. I understand its a 4 cylinder engine but Pfaff BMW said tunes were available and would be covered under warranty if installed at Pfaff. Its never going to be a RWD V8 but there is an opportunity to have some fun. One of the sales reps said a customer has gotten his 328i up to 400hp lol.

Yup, I cant recall off the top of my head but its something like 240hp/280ft lb torque? Correct me if I am wrong.

The ultimate plan would be to buy the BMW and keep that as a daily driver and road trip car. Once the BMW is paid off, we could then find another toy like the CLA45. Time will tell because what we really want is a cottage and I do not know if I can have all these cars and a cottage haha.

Ouch. Shit man, sorry to hear... that is pretty crazy but then again you bought a launch vehicle. I've typically never subscribed to the notion that you should never buy in the first year of a new vehicle's life cycle but perhaps you're proof positive that is good advice. For the record we've had zero issues with any of our MB's over the past 7+ years or so including a 2013 B250 which is same platform as the CLA minus the powertrain.

Maybe a CPO E63 wagon is the way to go? A well equipped 328i wagon has to be pushing into the $60k range with M-Sport plus a few options... seems like alot of dough for a 4 banger/240hp but what do I know. :D

That is pretty much it although the newer Cup 2 has much improved treadwear rating (180) and is really not that far from the P-Zero I have currently (220). That is a significantly better treadwear rating than other track tires like the Pirelli Trofeo R (60) or Dunlop Sport Maxx Race (80) and from what I gather many people are using them as daily driver tires that just happen to kick ass for a track day.

That said the PSS is significantly better on treadwear (300) and also has much better grip in the wet. Plus they are also $600-700 less than a set of Cup 2's for my car. I don't drive that much either, my car has 9000kms on it after 13 months and that includes 2 trips to track days at Calabogie which was 1000kms each time. We'll see, problem for a later date.

As someone who as worked as an automotive engineer for the better part of the last 20 years I would absolutely agree with this statement. Launches are a shit show. Best is second year. The bugs are worked out, labour is still enthusiastic and the manufacturer isn't trying to squeeze out savings/profit as much yet.

I have never bought a car first model year for the very reason that everyone has suggested I avoid it. I just got over excited at the same time as being desperate for a new vehicle. I was expecting some problems but not this many. Lesson learned.

To be totally honest, we are exploring everything right now for a next vehicle. Essentially we want a car that is better suited for long road trips, carrying surf boards and bikes at the same time. My wife has a strong opinion on not wanting an SUV. I had her sold on the F-Pace until we saw how big it was at the auto show. She was put off right away.

Thus we are now looking at wagons and as much as I love the E63 I just don't think I can swing it. Those things are 100K+. I guess I could look at used but I am nervous to own a Mercedes out of warranty.

Who knows what our future holds haha

I gotta say as a non-SUV guy I really liked the look of the F-Pace at the Auto Show. Looks great in person but it is certainly not small. Price wise Jag is certainly aggressive too, I think they are going to sell a ton of them.

In terms of other options might want to check out these beyond the 3 series wagon...

Audi A4 Allroad
Audi SQ5
Audi RS7 (hah)
BMW X4
Mercedes E400 4Matic Wagon
Range Rover Evoque
Volvo V60
Volvo S90 Wagon (coming soon, looks great)
Mini Countryman

I'm in the process of looking at cars for my wife when her lease is up and she is also anti-SUV. Since I drive her car a fair bit looking for something sporty and a bit more fun than the B-class... we'll see if I can convince her to go Golf R or something else similar. :D

Congrats, post pics!

Haven't got the new tires or detailed it yet. Hell I haven't even gotten it certified yet but went out for a spin today and got a quick car wash/country drive. Some guy in a B8 S4 caught up to me quick and looked like he wanted to have a go but I turned off. Probably not the best idea with the wrong plates, on cold pavement, in an area where there's often cops!

It's getting kind of crowded around here! I'm going to sell the wagon I think.
