it's a McLaren

yeah right. it's a lowly A3.

you mean call audi canada?

i just need to talk to a service department guy. queensway can't manage to answer their phones, how are they gonna manage to fix my car? i wanted to avoid eating crow and going back to pfaff.

i wish i at least had a copy of what i wrote to them. i submitted it online and copied audi canada on it. it was quite the rant that encompassed everything from my little beef with service to their quest to dominate sales at the expense of selling cars with soul. at the end of it, my last dig at them was "my next car's going to be a bmw"

fuck it. i'm going to call them and take my car in. otherwise i'm just screwing myself by taking it to a dealer that's way too out of my way.

In the Spring I want to get some new wheels/rims for my car. Anywhere to go first? I heard Kal Tire was good? Thanks.

Neat'o. Just snagged some fender flares for the 4Runner for $300 which is an amazing price. The bushwacker ones are about $620-$650 for my 4Runner. $300 is for some Bushwacker ripoffs. I just want something to protect the wheel well from rock chips besides the OEM chrome trim that lines the wheel well.

The 1.5" flare helps too since my tires will be about 3.5"-4.5" wider. This thing is a fucking money pit.

Sounds good Fornicator....Back when I owned a 1992 Jeep YJ I ended up snagging some used fender flares from a wreckers. When I up my tire size I had to match with the flares for the overall look.

Truck is coming along man and looking good! Looking forward to the end product. if I had the space, I would love to work on an old jeep again.

Aftermarket lip / grill? Or am I just out of the loop on the 63s?

Never noticed your seats...nice!

Nope well spotted... Mode Carbon front lip and I had the grill/DRLs wrapped in gloss black to match the front end of the 507 edition C63. Seats are awesome too aside from being a bit of a pain to keep clean... my detailer put a leather protector on them so they won't stain permanently but still the white bolsters get a bit dirty. Right now they are more blue than white from my jeans.

There was a guy on the CLA forum who opted for the beige interior and also posted about what a pain in the ass it is to keep clean. However, when clean it looks far better than the standard black...I agree.

Lip/grill looks really good man and I never noticed the bumps in that hood before. NICE1

only 24 weeks to go for me haha....I moved up in the queue from 7-3 within my dealership though.

Our contact Jonathan Pushka just left Midtown to Manage downtown MB. You will likely meet him eventually if you haven't already. Great guy!

Slapping the doors together on the 4Runner. Passenger side is done, but for some reason there's no holes on the driver's side donor doors for wire harnesses. The regulators are in, but f-me-in-the-a, had to drill holes in the doors to get the harness through.

So, had to take the doors off, gingerly put them down, cut holes, seal exposed metal with primer and then grab a can of single-stage to paint over the primer. I hope it seals well.

When putting the window weather trim on, for some weird reason the window trim comes up a solid3" short! How the fuck is that even possible? All the doors are supposed to be the same from 90-95 (or was it 91-95)? When I bought the replacement doors, I know they were 2nd gen doors. So weird. Now, I have to verify that the place I got the doors from are actually 2nd gen doors. If not, I have to find more replacement doors and get them prepped and painted.

What a gong show. Off to the picknpull this weekend.

Hey Filmore whats the latest with your new ride? ;)

Scrapping the original order tonight in order to get our hands on the Edition 1 for June. Spoke to the dealer about Star Advantage so we we'll see the numbers at 7pm!

So excited I am going to abuse this thread with some pics. Apologies in advance.

Just back from the AutoShow. So the three cars I'm looking at are the BMW 2 series, Audi A3 and the Mercedes CLA. I have to say I like the CLA far and away the best in terms of looks and tactile feel.

The edition 1 AMG CLA is a little over the top in the styling department for my tastes but damn is it a nice car except for those rock hard seats. I'd pony up the money for the AMG CLA if I didn't have to wait until next year for it.

Other observations:

The new VW GTI looks great but is a major disappointment on the inside. Cheap plastic everywhere. In fact all the new cars feature too much cheap plastic.

The Honda FIT is possibly the most practical car in existence.

The 2015 BMW M3 at the show wins the award for the most stunning colour.

The new Mercedes C400 looks gorgeous.

In profile the BMW 4 series looks like a Ford Mustang.

The matte grey Ferrari F12 is gorgeous.

I hear ya man. My original order (base CLA45AMG) would have been a total of 13month delivery. We jumped on the Edition 1 when the dealer called with a build allocation for it.

In some ways I agree its a little over the top but for me I also like that it will stand out because of that. I am "that" guy.
I whole hardheartedly agree with the seats though.

If you want the CLA keep in contact with dealers. There are so many people backing out in regards to the wait whom have cars coming for spring/Summer. This is how we got the jump on the Edition 1.

Speaking of Honda Fits, some guy in Edmonton turbo mugen K20 swapped Honda Fit. Not my cup of tea, but gotta respect the effort that went into it. 367whp on dyno jet. That would be super fun in that car lol

took my car in for service last week.

i knew there was an issue with the front driver's side suspension. i could feel and hear it.

turns out the control arm needs to be replaced.

should i get both control arms done?

when they replace the control arms do they do just that part or is it standard procedure to replace the bushings and mounts too? should i get full refresh kit with ball joints and tie rods for both sides?

i would assume that the bushings get done too at the very least right?

Anyone ever consider importing a car from the US? I've been reading about importing BMWs and realize there are a few hoops...

A real good friend of mine has offered his 2004 E46 M3 to me for a great price. $17k.

It was one of his toys, babied since day one. 6 spd, oxford green with cinnamon interior, dinan suspension. It has 20k miles -- never seen winter/salt. Essentially been in a garage along with his other toys - only brought out in good weather.

Really thinking about it. I've always loved the e46.

Jesus Christ that's damn near free. He get that vanos issue sorted out yet? 20K miles so it probably hasn't had a chance to pop up yet. FYI: It can be about $1000-$3000 to fix depending where you go.

Importing a car (to Alberta, at least) isn't that hard. The vehicle obviously can't be on the restricted vehicle list, you can only get an in-transit permit on the vehicle at first since it can't be registered in the province with an out-of-province inspection, needs daytime running lights, you need to pay the 5% GST on the vehicle at the boarder when lugging it back, and there's about 8 forms you have to fill out IIRC.

You really have to do your due diligence to ensure that you have the proper forms filled out before you cross the boarder with the vehicle. In order to register it in Canada, Customs has to fill out a few forms as well so you can't just cross the boarder with it and expect to be able to register it on the spot. This is the hardest part, but there's heaps of documentation all over the net. I'd cite you the forms that I know, but they might be Alberta-specific so they won't do you any good.

Derek - I caught that on another website. Insane. I can only imagine what that repair would cost.
Car sounds amazing though!
