After an awesome Boxing Day Battle at Turbo, I didn't think it could get any better...
I feel as though the Toronto Breaks community has spoiled me this week, and I'm completely ungrateful.
I arrived at System shortly after twelve, and the place wasn't as packed as I thought it would be. I guess most people were tired from partying the night before, or had to work the next day.
But I had an awesome time. I always get weirded out, initially, when I go to a Breaks party and it's not the familiar BREAKfest crowd; I'm not sure why that is. Maybe I equate Breaks with that specific crowd, because BREAKfest is one of the few times I actually go out.
In any case, the amalgamation of PurePhunk and BREAKfest was the perfect evening for the first day of the real millenium.
Big League Chu and D-Monic played familiar, routine sets that kept me dancing all night long, and Meric was a pleasant surprise at the END of the night. After waiting over an hour for an "opportune" time to leave, I just had to ignore the track selections and grab my coat. It was a difficult decision to leave, as it was a party full of the best tracks of 2000.
I can't believe I've gone to two good parties on a Monday night (Morillo@Guv't, PhunkFest@System) and I also can't believe I'm still awake at 6:00am.
My only hope/plea/suggestion is that future BREAKfests be thrown in the main room, instead of the backroom. It was still intimate, despite a smaller crowd, and the space is much more danceable.
A special thank you goes out to Heather and Chloe for being so random, and for Dan-Pat-France for throwing yet another great Breaks night.
Lately, I've been a ball of compliments...but I said it before, and I'll say it again... "Snarkiness be damned, PHUNKfest was Phunkin' amazing!"

PS: D-Monic...are you gunna throw this on your website too? Buahaha.
