I also grew up hearing Gzowski every morning, but did not appreciate it as a kid.
The story below is of an encounter i had with this broadcasting legend.
When i was in grade 12, i got to take radio broadcasting at my high school. One of my friends who had been in the program for a semester longer then i had was given the chance to interview Mr. Gzowski while he was in kingston for an event. While i was on air doing a show, my friend was in the room next door conducting the interview. I had the opportunity to watch, and partially hear the interview, from the broadcasting booth. Peter treated my friend (and everyone at the station that day) like he was his equal, regardless of the fact that this was a high school radio station, with students who had very little intereviewing experience . Afterwards Peter stuck around for a bit chatting with people around the station. He was probably one of the most down to earth
people i've met.
He will be greatly missed and remembered in our contry.
RIP
