PC vs. Mac

I always hear about how shitty Windows is and how people rue using it.

I myself thoroughly enjoy windows. Why is Mac considered to be so much cooler than PC's? Is it like an indie-rock/computer-nerd style most underground pissing contest?

Or is Mac truly better for the average user?

Mac are not for computer geeks.

Macs are good for those who work with video and audio all the time, but even then it has no real advantages of win9x

Basically macs are for those who enjoy the image, or are too stupid to figure out win9x

Everyone else uses windows, and those with enough patience and computer expertice will run a *nix box.

Why are they better?

I understand the draw to Linux, but I don't see where Mac's fit in.

I think the Apple processor is made to handle multimedia better than a PC, but the fact is that PC technology advances quicker than apples due to more demand.

So even though Apples are more efficient handling multimedia, PC's are still faster, and can handle the same load easily.

Or something along those lines.

Basically macs suck. But Im biased cause I grew up using windows, and the 6 months that I had an apple laptop all I did was whine about how crappy it was.

From my understanding Mac has always been ahead in technology, it wasn't until Windows 2.0 came out that it had competition. And it only had competition because Window slid through some legal cracks to totally rip of the Mac GUI (OS at the time) technology.

Other than that I've always known Macs to be way easier to use, I've used both PC & Mac alot. And I find that everything is easier to install and keep up with my Mac, there's definitly less viruses for Macs too. In the design industry it's way better because it opens both PC and Mac files no problem.

But Macs will always lack in gaming, and "kazaa" like services. Which I don't really care about anyways.

A computer wiz (unlike me) friend of mine that works on PCs for a living owns and loves his Mac.

btw if you are actually going to try to have this pointless debate then try to seperate the hardware and software issues. The windows OS sucks ass, its as simple as that... but mac hardware is super expensive and until recently were way slower then the competition
