Location: University of Toronto (St. George campus)
Wage: $12 - $14/ hour

HOURS: This position will require approximately 12 - 16 hours of work per
week until Friday, October 13, 2006.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Organic gardening experience
- Leadership skills
- Ability to work with and train volunteers
- Willingness to work outside in various types of weather and conditions
- Knowledge of equity seeking groups an asset

DESCRIPTION:
SAC is currently looking for one individual to oversee and work as the
Garden Coordinator of the Food-For-All Garden on the SAC front lawn. The
Garden Coordinator shall ensure that the Food-For-All Garden fulfills its
mandate of donating food to the Food Bank and offering Open Community
Harvests. The Coordinator is expected to execute the routine care of a wide
variety of plants, flowers and organic vegetables. The Coordinator shall
also ensure flower beds and all public areas are clean and tidy. The
Food-For-All Garden relies on volunteers for its Harvests, as such, the
Garden Coordinator is responsible for the training and supervision of said
volunteers in sustainable gardening practices. The Garden Coordinator is
responsible to the Garden Steering Committee and shall report to the
committee as requested.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reporting to the SAC-OPIRG Garden Steering Committee as requested
- Planting, upkeep and harvesting of Food-For-All Garden
- Volunteer training in sustainable organic gardening
- Water and fertilize plants, flowers and vegetables using
environmentally-friendly initiatives
- Ensure that all public areas (including the garden) are kept clean and
safe
- Encourage and assist the development of organic community gardening groups
on campus
