YES!...I fell asleep...not much of a "swahbuckling" fan...whatever that means...he's been deserved for a few other films but POTC.???...sucked ass to me...but then again what do I know, I was sleeping...I think I dreamt it was horrible, I finished the movie in my head:D

The academy tends to do this, and in the end it results in a never-ending game of catch up.

For example Denzel Washington did not deserve to win for Training Day. the academy shafted him in the past for deserved performances in Malcom X and Glory, so instead awarded him for playing a part any two-bit rapper could have portrayed.

Peter Jackson will win best director this year, no mater whos up against him. the academy will honor the LOTR trilogy as a whole instead of judging TRotK as a film on its own. Even if someone directed the best film ever Peter Jaclkson would still win. Is that fair? Who knows. Anyone wanna bet some beers?

no worries...he was definitely better in Hurricane and even He Got Game than Training Day, which was a chew-the-scenery role most actors would have relished. There was no way in hell a portrayal of Malcolm X was gonna win.

his best role as an actor is still Philadelphia

well my friend, considering he was nominated for Glory, Cry Freedom, Hurricane, Malcolm X, and Training Day, and not for Philadelphia, and that he absolutely embodied real people in what, 3 of those roles, I think you're whistling in the dark on this one.

a black man dealing with his own self-awareness as someone who faced prejedice many times has to defend a gay, AIDS victim battling for his life in an attempt to get justice on the people whowrongly persecuted him....that's a stretch for any actor...he was REALLY strong in one of the major roles and deserved the acolades that came with it

hell no- by the time Philadelphia came around he started overdoing it- his best (and least pretentious) performance was in Cry Freedom

my prediction is that charlize theron will win for best actress.

when someone makes themselves ugly in a film they win.

for example:

nicole kidman in the hours and hillary swank in boys don't cry. both made themselves unattractive.

and there's your ticket to winning an oscar.

Everyone says that every time an actor transforms him/herself to that extent.

BTW, I wouldn't consider Nicole unattractive in The Hours...that's just what Virginia Woolf looked like, and she wasn't ugly to me, just a little frumpy maybe (well, especially in comparison to Nicole at awards shows). And Hilary was posing as a guy, but she was not "unattractive" to me either...just playing a more physically demanding role.

I predict LOTR - ROTK will win all eleven Oscars because those movies - including the actors who worked in them have been screwed over. :D

Sir McKellan should have won something for Gandalf. Andy Serkis should have won something for Gollum as well.

LOL

can't believe she stopped colouring her hair as well, who the hell does that in Hollywood????

Diane Keaton may be the only one who can get actually away with it.

And speaking of boobs Susan Surandon was totally falling out of her dress in a non sexy way.
