Old Finch Road (Markham) - Haunted?

FIN-ALLY Suke has come BACK ... To The General Forum

OYE ... Was talking with some friends and something came up about ghosts and stuff and how Old Finch Road in Markham/Scarborough is haunted. One friend said when he went with his friends weird shit would go down.

- once his friend tripped twice for no apparent reason 20 minutes apart
- at night when the train passed there was a man who just appeared outta the blue walking with his bike with his head down and never looked up.
- other stuff too but I just can't remember.

Apparently there is a place in Whitby as well. Its like a haunted town which closes down at 6:00pm. It sounded like my friend wasn't joking and he would get vexed if we started to make fun of him. He said he would take us WonDay.

Has anybody else heard this?

I used to love driving though Old Finch with a bunch of friends when we were teenagers so we can get scared the bejeezus outta us.

I don't know it it's still there or not but there is this road somewhere there (before u reach the bridge) which is made of stone. There is large writing on it from a can of spraypaint. I recall that it said "Happy Birthday (someone's name...i forgot)". We were told that the name of that person...a girl perhaps was murdered around there and the script on the wall was orginally written in her blood. It was spraypainted over so that the blood would still be there. It was said that if u actually scraped the paint off it you'll see the blood.

Of course we believed it...

I dunno about haunted... it is really dark at night down there though.

Last winter I was working on a mivie that being filmed down in that area. I basically spent a week in the a 100 year old cabin, in the woods... all alone. creepy shit I tell you.

lots of wolves/cyotes in that are to.

I dunno if you're talking about Whitby Psych...but regardless that's always a fun adventure. I haven't been there in a few years, but last time I went they had everything boarded up with metal sheeting that was screwed in, making it really hard to find a way inside.

Not sure what its like now, I think I might head back there sometime this summer...just gotta watch out for the flashlight-armed security

yeah...there is a place in Port Perry too called Ghost Road where a motorcyclist got in an accident and lost his head. apparently they never found the head and at night you can see the lights from his motocycle going up and down the road but yet there is no sound.
my friends and i used to take drives out there all the time to freak ourselves out.

we did a photo shoot there in the summer time and that place is by far the weirdest, most fucked up place i've ever been. even in the bright of day, it has such a fucked up aura about it.

its more a compound than a hospital - at least 20 separate buildings, all boarded up and run down. they had their own power plant, with 1930s esque huge ass gears and mechanical monstrosities on the inside.

very, very surreal place to wander around in.

yeah, you can see some of the background here:
http://www.2ammusic.com/Crew_Mike2.html

those pics are mainly supposed to be me, so you can't see much of the place in those ones.
those pics don't do the place justice though, as it doesn't show the massive gear works and the absoulte desolation of the entire place(which is huge).

It was built some time in the 1900's by a German architect i think. That's why the separate compounds look like that. Back then the design was considered to be advanced in its time...with the sunroof at the top to provide therapeutic sunlight into those little houses...

I believe this one has actually been proven to be reflected lights from another nearby road or somethingorother... I forget the exact details of that one.

About Old Finch Road, the whole story is a the Toronto Ghosts and Hauntings Research Society, at their website

The Old Finch Road story is here

If you have any questions about Toronto hauntings (or even Ontario hauntings in general), that's the place to go (and there's a message board, so if you have any questions, you can ask away)... you can also pick up Robert Colombo's book "Haunted Toronto", which is really good.

we used to go there and get drunk all the time in highschool. that road is right by where my dad has his boat (and also the casino) so i've been down it a million times. i have never seen anything.

Man, I grew up fucking around at Old Finch, they've turned most of the area into houses now, but, there's definitely an eerie ghost vibe kicking. If you get on the train tracks and just start walking there used to be this abandoned barn that was the SCARIEST place in the world when I was baked. I've been in the area for over two decades and I still wouldn't venture out there by myself at night.

I drive through there all the time. Nothing weird has ever happened... except that i took one corner too fast and drifted a bit.

As Stryker mentioned... there's a lot of development there now.

oh yeah, whitby psych is just an awesome place to check out.

the beauty is that most of the buildings are connected by underground tunnels; so once you find an entrance you can explore most of the compound. that place was like a self-contained city for sure. everything from a massive kitchen, to a morgue to old electrotherapy rooms.

if anyone's seen 'session nine' that should give you a hint of what to expect.
