love the ones like total science, optical, j majik, future cut who have NEW production value with some of the 'shall-we-say' sensibilities of old skool

but definitely new, loving the deep techno fusion sounds from outside the UK, Scandinavian and German sounds. Lovin the brazilian sounds and the Juan B bastardization of them (someone teach the man subtletly). I think the past 6 months have been some of the best for DnB

couldn't agree more. but he knows that his stuff is cheesy, and that's what he's going for. sorry, but i have to defend him from time to time. but you are right that he's not doing the brazilian sound proper. i'm more down with his r&b stuff.

new d&b is off the charts!!! i would have said old school was on top last year, but this is the turn around year.

^^i'm sure he knows that the tunes are cheezy (but someone should say something about the hair). I'm not too keen on his brazilian stuff but the RnB stuff is off the hook and the Trance'n'Bass is great too, hard mix of forever coming out in January for those who missed the LP sampler. Above all else he has high production value, everything sounds crisp and clean.
My big john b complaint is that he uses the same drum break in 1/2 his newer tunes (Up all night, forever, run out of time, the one on shoebox, etc etc) but if it aint broke dont fix it.

then try listening to the new stuff...it's come a long way my friend...bass lines have improved immensely...overall, i respect old skool but you have to move with the evolution...todays jungle is vast in diversity.

please, you can hardly say that there is only one oldskool head in the place. Oldskool is virtually the fundamental dnb aesthetic. I like both styles, but when it comes down to listening to dnb, i like to hear this type music that is known as new. oldskool is wicked, but i've heard 90% of it, and enjoy new music as well.

then why aren't we still listening to it?? Or why aren't producers still making the "oldskool" sound??

Oldskool RAN tings.......make way for progression

the ol'skool side of things are alright but very, very tired...i'm really not into the MC element of drum and bass and certainly am bored of mega Dj's like kenny ken and nicky blackmarket...look at what we have now,dj's and producers coming out with raw shit every month, new producers every month...who says drum and bass is dead?? here's a small list, just think about these names...

teebee
marky
future cut
stakka and skynet
total science
konflict
ryme tyme
jmajik
digital
decoder and substance/kosheen
ed rush and optical
dieselboy/dara/DB/ak1200

these are all names you cant fuck with,im sure I forgot some but...just look at some of the names and you realise where drum and bass is going and what shape it's taken!

well in this whole thread, me and dopamine are the only people to say "just oldskool" so by my count that makes two.
and yes i know its come alomg way. and evolved from crazly insane drops and amens. to kyfe ass two step, to even kyfier shit (sounds and stoopid noises) listen to say, any good oldskool tune then a new one. doesnt even sound the same does it?
and as for it not being sold. you can get it you just have to look.my friend just picked up the original dj hype- hello lover with a trace remix on the flip side.and a whole wack of other shit

So, jungle is only good if it's all amen breaks???
"Doesn't sound the same"???
Do you want it all to sound the same???

that's a puzzling thing to say.
