last night I got a note from Rogers that theyre cutting my cable today because they found out my landlord split 1 cable line between three apartments.

I checked my lease and it doesnt say free cable. Thus- Im pretty much screwed, right?

But the 800 I pay included cable til now- and thats what they SAID it would include.

should I ask for a reduction in rent to 750?

How much does cable COST anyways?

basic starts at around 25, and usually ends up at around 40-50 for most people's usage.

Just have one person order it and then splice it again.

considering tha Rogers outsources everything, it should be merely a threat or temporary.

    Are you at home Jake?

Just watch for the dude, and hook it back up when he's gone.

unfortunately im not at home so I cant watch him- but I was thinking of hooking it back up when they disconnect as well.

Is there any way they'd reduce my rent though is the real question.

If you're there when the guy comes over, just slip him a 50. ;)

If you know where the box is, how do you steal the cable? The guy came to my house a few months ago and found out that I only pay for internet, not cable TV. (When you ask for internet without cable, they actually do include cable without telling you... unless they block the signal intentionally). It was sweet because I paid for internet and my roommate used it for TV, so we split the bill. But then they found us out and cut off the TV signal and I pay the whole bill now.

Anyone know how to go to the box outside and hook it back up?

    Don't do what mingster said!!!

My boy Matthew Broderick did that, and the cable guy thought they were best friends or something...it got really freaky!

(split it again?...ask for rent reduction?...or steal it if you know the right person to do it?)

Ask your landlord, I guess. If he said you would have cable included then it would be the right thing to do, but if it's not in the lease, he doesn't really have to. That was the obvious answer, but it doesn't hurt to ask!

There should be these filters on the cable. They're tubes about 4" long. Take them off, and your cable will work.

THe two inch one reduces noise from the lines, and the biggerones are the filters.
