Very nice set by Mr. Warren... tore the roof off the place for the last hour before I left (at 5:30)...

boo to the line-up @ the door... got there at 11:15pm, didn't get in until 12:30... longest I've ever had to wait @ system...

HOLY HELL Tribe people...
what a night in deed.

the place was so packed, I had never seen it this tight before!!!

and thanks to mike for his help getting me in
smile.gif

well, the music was so much better than I had anticipated, I expected a complete night of boring progressive, but evern Mark Scaife catered his set well to get the crowd jumpin...

my brain is blurry so i can't even write that much, but it was sooo nice seeing everyone, I couldn't even start naming everyone because it would take years...

but thanks to all who made the night stellar!!!

~ Johane

I managed to catch the mini set he did at HMV Bay Bloor. However brief, he had garnered the cheers of the crowd that had come to see him, playing a quick set of anthems mixed with acapellas. I even managed to get a door sized poster autographed by him (thanks again Mark)

The anticipation for Nick Warren was unrivaled, and I cannot recall any DJ that has played on a Friday night. And when he took the decks over from a very hard playing and very banging set played by Mark Scaife, Nick Warren soared. He ran the guanlet of house, Trance, progressive house and a healthy dose of nu school breaks, keeping the entire dancefloor busy and packed. I admire the fact that he didn't totally resort to anthems, giving us the tunes we wanted to hear, but also giving us a taste of what we will be asking to hear from our resident DJ's. Not in quite some time have I ever seen a DJ deliver quite a balanced, uplifting set that would take any party to the next level. When we left at 6:00 am, the dancefloor was still very busy and very much on fire. I really hope to see him again sometime soon. What a spectatcular show, and a wonderful time

Minister of goodnight. I'm fucking beat

How absolutely mediocre. Started off with some uninspired percussive tunes for the first half hour. Kinda got things going after that but he was just all over the map. He would drop some absolute stormers, have the crowd in the palm of his hands, then follow it up with some real snoozers. Totally unimpressed with the shite mixing, and the line! what was that about the mob out in front of the doors? I guess everybody's got a story.

One track that saved my night from being a total loss, Lovely Day-Brancaccio & Aisher-WOW what a sweet tune!!! And the Chris Issac remix was also quite nice.

I for one had a wicked night and thought that Mr. Warren's set was off the hook.
I haven't danced that much in a very long time. I even stuck it out till the end.

Red Bull and Voddy is definately better than Rev, dat's da truth !

Not the most exiting set, but not the worse i've heard lately. Kind of fun crowd but a little to crowded at the start of the evening, no room to get down
frown.gif

Of course I didn't pay $25 so.......

Anyone know the name of the track that had the MCing on it then a fun dubby bassline ?

Shouts to the Korean punks ( you know who you are ), nice to see the crew in full force. Extra fuzzy warm shouts to my favorite dancing partner Aida

thanks to Higsteppa, Revjay, some stranger, Johane, Vinder, possibly Malglo..and whoever else who contributed to my drunken state. although by the end of the nite i thought i was blind..so maybe, thanks for nothing!

..haha j/k

But yeah, i was expecting to be bored out of my skull by a nite of progressive, but it was good! great friends, good music, lots of alcohol and all that jazz made for good times.

p.s. there was no glowsticks

so, did warren play some melodic stuff? or did he bang it out like seaman @ guv?</font>

He kept veering back and forth between the two extremes and in a very good way.

Minister of Jay, sorry to hear you got the ticket man.

HOLY SHIT! Nick Warren was "on" last night. So good. His mixing was far better than what I expected and his programing was sweet. Great tunes, good people, good times.
biggrin.gif

Now I understand the hype of Nick Warren.
I even stayed till the end and the way he closed off sounded really good. Great vibe too! One of my best nights out ever!

line-up if seen at System in a long time.We got in the guestlist line at 11:40 but didn't get in 'till 1am and found out that the regulat line cover was 40$$$....HUGE thanx to Ash for getting us in at discount though....I owe you BIG time...

Well knowing that there were tons of poeple getting in, the place WAS PACKED....I ran into so many of my friends though and quickly settled in to Marc Scaife's set.....he was spinning some nasty beats
smile.gif
...

I have never heard Nick Warren's stuff before so last night was a very SWEET surprise for me....I loved his entire set....from beginning to end.El Presidente pretty much sumed up what I thought of Nick Warrens set....I loved the highs & lows and the mixing was ace with a few bumps along the way but who cares....I was SOOOOOOO glad he played that "Papua New Guinea" remix....love that track....Anyway I was on my feet almost the entire night struttin my stuff and playing with glow....It was great to hear tracks that I've never heard of before too and hope to hear again soon....

A few downsides last night when we saw a couple of potential fights almost break out....FAAAAAAAAWK......what in HELL is up with that
confused.gif
I have to say that System security were awesome in handling it though....They use their brains instead of their braun (The Guv security can take lessons from these guys) so they just escorted these idiots outside....

I guess we won't see a night like THAT at System for a while but it was great for the bartenders and Susie at the rear bar was VERY busy....I didn't go into the other rooms so I don't know how they were.

Well thats pretty much it

what a night. like highsteppa and che said, mark scaife and nick warren were on. from the highest highs to the dirtiest and darkest lows, the music was pumping. a mix of prog, house, some trance tossed in for good measure, it was quite a ride. but the programming i'd have to say was spot on. warren started off with some dirty prog, then would toss in something a bit lighter, a bit trancier, bring you up....and then thunder down with just the hardest and sickest beats.....over and over, each time taking you a bit higher and sending you back down that much harder. by the time my night ended, my legs, back, knees, ankles and shoulders were super sore. a testament to how much i danced, given there was next to no dancing room. the music was that good. let's not even bother with the tribe turnout. i thought there were a lot out at seaman, but the turnout tonight put even that to shame. so many familiar faces, and a couple new ones, made the night that much better. i can't stress how much better a night is with great people around. everywhere i turned, even when i was lost at the front of the floor, i saw someone i knew, someone to go chat or dance with. just incredible really. it was really good to meet sunkist (finally), chrisD and kalemic.

cheers to everyone for a great night.

Nick Warren at System questions:
  1. Was this a good night? yes
  2. Was the club rammed? totally
  3. How was Nick? excellent
  4. And the tracks? top notch
  5. Was it worth the pain of only 1 hr sleep before work? absolutely
  6. Dance your ass off? no, see # 2
  7. Tribe board represent? we owned the place
    [/list=a]

Wonderful night of great tunes! Started out at HMV for an in-store performance that got the anticipation to a peak level, I was so geared for the insanity to come. Nice guy and got my GU liner booklet signed.
Got to the club at 11 and was inside in 10 min. - sweet! Thanks for the G-L Mike. It wasn't too packed, had room to socialize and dance properly but it didn't last long though. Camped out in the back groovin' to house until N.W. went on.
Holy packed to the tits batman, in the front room!! Wicked tunes, they actually took me away, I was lost quite a few times - eyes closed - blissed out to the sound. Mostly, all you could do was bop up and down or sway in one spot ... grrrr. There was some space behind the DJ booth to move and dance but you have to get in front of the speakers from time to time, to get the full effect inspite of feeling like a bumper car. The set - uplifting at times, banging at others, funky, spacey and everything in between - very cool.
Had to give in and bail on the night at 6am, work was calling (uugh), but it was so worth it.

Met a few new people from the board and saw all the ones I already knew, at the meet-up. I won't name names cause I probably will only get them wrong anyway plus it would take forever. TBK TAKE OVER

Note to Breathe: please stop scheduling DJs I must see (Deep Dish, Saeed & Palash, Nick Warren, etc), on weekends that I have to work, damn it!!

What a night!!! Nick Warren rocked it last night and a nice guy to boot! First though, i would like to thank all who showed up to the instore at HMV. Thanks guys for the support you guys and gals really opened up people eyes yesterday, this is huge and there are alot of people behind it!! A big thanks to Matt Coleridge for doing the warm-up set too, greatjob Matt!(sorry about the volume!!!)

Onto the evening...what a fun time i had. I've never seen it soo packed in there, i thought Deep Dish was bad, but this definitely topped it. I was quite impressed with Mr Warren. Really knows how to keep you on your toes. Good track selection, past, present and future. For once i stayed till the end, worth every minute of it.

Nah I don't think it was me, the moment I got out of systems I began to go and harass hotdog venders and old people who were up early. On a side note I don't think I have ever joked around so hardcore before, DAMN IT! You didn't even get pissed off or anything! All I needed was a reaction! Something, anything! Jay is too damn nice and easy going!
smile.gif

As for Warren I was quite impressed. A truly nice man on the decks and his programming seemed to be top notch. His djing skills seemed to do the job very well, but a perfect set he did not have.

Got a chance to meet a ton of Tribe people, it was really nice to put a name to faces. To all those I met it was certainly a pleasure, however some people *cough*che, and jay*cough* had to take the full brunt of my pestering, LOL. All in all though, an excellent night with great people and great music, albeit there was too many people inside and the lineup took the longest I have ever had to deal with at System but I guess that's the price to pay for a big name dj.
