NFL Draft Weekend Coming Up!

This weekend is the draft. One of my favourite weekends to just get stoned and veg on the couch watching ESPN. Reggie Bush seems to be the consensus overall #1 pick...but Mario Williams is making a late charge. I have to think thats a smokescreen by the Texans to try to temper Bush's contract demands.

I think NO would be lunatics to pass on D'Brickshaw Ferguson at #2...for the name alone. The fact that he's a fairly dominant blocker who's mostly muscle and will grow even more should help as well.

Oregon DT Haloti Ngata is slipping as well...although I wouldn't expect him to last past the 15th.

Maryland TE Vernon Davis after his FREAK workout numbers augmented his impressive college season numbers could be the highest TE taken since Kellen Winslow at #7 overall)

Dunno who I want for my Bengals to pick...Broderick Bunley the FSU DT would be nice if he slipped. Hating the rumours that have us taking Nick Mangold as I think we're set at centre. A DE would be nice as well. Tamba Hali or Mathias Kiwanuika.

Leinart booked two dozen hotel rooms at a Vegas casino/hotel to celebrate after the draft. I might have to finagle my way into that party.

The Bush agent/house scandal is an interesting side story that I'm sure ESPN will be all over.

I'm pumped that my Giants signed Arrington - combined with a healthy Pierce, Emmons and Brandon Short, new additions to the secondary in Madison and R.W. McQuarters, not to mention Osi and Strahan, the Giants D should be ferocious (though losing Clancy to Arizona hurts). Hopefully the Giants will take a DT or groom a left tackle for the future.

The draft is great entertainment, lots of strategy and tough decisions that may impact the team for years to come. I always resented the fact it occurred in the middle of exams in both undergrad and grad school, so for seven years I could only catch updates in the university library. Now that I'm in the workforce, I can't justify wasting an entire weekend of draft watching

The Packers are going to be rewarded with their shitty season with a shitty draft pick.

Why oh why didn't they tank the last game is beyond me.

Jeebus, this is a list of players who's stock is dropping big time before the draft..scary thing is it could be the entire Bengals draft board:

1. Mathias Kiawanuka, DE, Boston College.

Viewed by some as a top-five pick prior to the 2005 season, Kiawanuka will now be lucky to be selected on day one of the draft. The perception is that Kiawanuka had his "ass whupped" at the Senior Bowl, and that he showed no leg strength or intensity. Three teams that we know of have him rated as a fourth-rounder.

2. Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech.

Williams is regarded by some league insiders as a "very bad dude" -- and not in the good way. We've heard that some teams have removed him completely from their boards.

3. Claude Wroten, DT, LSU.

We reported on Friday, citing three league sources, that Wroten tested positive at the combine. Although the teams know about the result, no one else in the media has made the connection between the positive result and the negative impact on his draft stock.

Wroten also was arrested on marijuana charges earlier this year, but the charges were dropped. To compound the problem, we're told that some teams were not enamored by his interviewing skills.

4. Derek Hagan, WR, Arizona State.

Before the 2005 season, he consistently was viewed as one of the top receivers in the country. His inconsistent hands are putting him in the round three range now.

5. Dominique Byrd, TE, USC.

Byrd was seen as one of the top two tight ends before the 2005 season. But a "brutal" pro day workout and a "lackadaisical attitude" have fueled a fall.

6. LenDale White, RB, USC.

For anyone who has been living under a rock or, even worse, in Arkansas, White is this year's poster child for how not to handle the run-up to the draft. A hamstring injury was disclosed when he showed up for his pro day workout. He managed a total of 15 reps in the 225-pound bench press.

In the aftermath of the Mario Williams shocker, rumours are that Buffalo is looking to trade down to get more picks in later rounds. I would not be surprised if the Raiders move from #7 to #5 and take Vince Young.

Makes alot of sense Gizmo, since the Raiders don't care if you can read or write!:D
I hope not though, I hate the raiders and really like Vince Young.(dispite previous comment)

the reason the raiders didnt go after leinhart or cutler is because they are more then happy with andrew walter, the qb they drafted last year.

this guy set or broke almost every qb record in college. and once brooks leads the raiders to a 0-4 start, walter should start the rest of the season.

Nice picks by your Iggles. Combining Bunkley with Patterson in the middle should provide a nice DT rotation. Getting a pick for Thomas was also good business.
