Is it true that EVIL-P and DEKO-ZE will be holding down System on New Years Eve? I hope so! This will be one great night for music. They are two of my favourite Dj's...How much will tix cost? And where can I purchase tickets if I live in Mississauga?

cheers

Tis true... Tickets will be available for $35. They can be purchased from either the box office or from me. I should have a bunch on hand within the week or so. PM during next week and we can probably meet up since I work in Sauga.

BOO! Com'on now 35 bucks to see a resident Dj?
This is just ridiculous, but there is no point in fighting the "System". Just like everything else in this world thats become saturated so has System Soundbar.
Funny thing is the place will be packed and The club and promoters will have the last laugh. Talk about a quick cash grab;)

$35 for NYE is nothing

I just have to say that the residents at System are totally worth the $35 for New Years...it's about supporting the locals who are there every week whether they are sick, double/triple booked or plain exhausted! They are talented and have earned their place behind those decks...you have no idea what they go through even when they are not spinning for example promoting (selling tix), networking and/or travelling.

I just think that if we all support each other than maybe the price would decrease but the love would increase...no offence Zorro :) I want to understand your POV however, I know too well how hard it is to pursue your dreams every week and 35$ is a small price to pay when it comes to appreciating the true talent of TO...

I do hope you will continue to support the residents regardless of the money issue cause really money is so not important when it comes to wikked night brought to you by these residents...they put thier heart and soul into it...is it too hard to ask for the same inspiration from you?! I know you have it in you...

Just thought I'd share...

Zorro...I'm sure you'll have a wikked new years anyways! Cheers! ;)

It'n not about the locals - I love the locals.

But I don't think rent is any more on that night. I don't think the alcohol is any more expensive. I'm sure the local security ups their price and I am sure the local djs up their price. So the questions is - is the higher price covering the costs or are we making a little trip to the bank the next day.

NYE is a cash grab. But the night is what you make it, I'm not into spending my night there - although I bet it will be fun.

System wants $35 in advance - more than the usual $15. So asking twice as much money - what are they going to give you th ecustomer twice the night?

Remember - System is a business. If the demand is there - the idea is to make money. It's not as if they owe the partiers anything:)

Without having seen all the details, I'm not really qualified to comment, but I will anyway.

NYE is a cash grab. But I'm sure like most places, there will be a few extras tossed in for your cover. And $35 isn't that bad for a night with these 2 on the decks.

Any club in TO will be charging at least that much if not more for probably lesser talent. If I was in town that's where I'd be.

Com'on now the reason why other places might charge a little
more is because they'll actully try to bring in a name DJ.

And believe me I'm not saying anything bad about the line-up for
that night I do enjoy both those DJ's. As a matter of fact I enjoy
hearing Evil P almost on a weekly basis. But thats my point?
Shouldn't they try to spice up new years a bit? Oh what there
going to blow up some ballons put some food in the VIP room
again and give away free champagne at Midnight? Been there
done that.

It's not about giving back to the local DJ's come on now be real or
has the hood been pulled over your head too? Local Dj's cost a
lot less then flying someone in. Yes they work hard to get where
they are and yes I'm sure it's not all fun and games.
However this is NEW YEARS EVE! and there charging you 35
instead of 15 or 20 that it's going to cost for the same party
same line-up 3 days later.

Of course System Soundbar has become the place where
everybody knows your name, so the 800 or so regulars plus
another 400-600 people will be there, some with bells on some
with, well it is System use your imaganation.

I'm sure I'll end up there and I'm sure I'll have a great night, I
always do there. All I'm saying is it's kind of iritating how because
it's NYE the price goes up, but the talent stays the same.

I was hoping for something BIG from these guys thats all.
they use to do it on the reg. now it's abnormal.

Wait and see how many big names are in TO for New Years. Probably not too many, simply because most places can't afford to pay the prices that the dj's are asking.

I'm sure if they wanted to charge $70 + a person, they could bring in a big headliner, but then everyone would complain that tickets were too expensive.

I for one think the price is more than fair.

Never mind the fact the RED TURTLE will be playing as well!! :D

NYE is expensive..and $35 will probably be relatively cheap compared to other places!!

This is the third year of just residents on New Years. And people quite happily pay the money because they know they are going to have a good time.

How much is Guv charging? $15, their usual price? I doubt it. They want $40 for locals.

Supply and demand. System is always packed on New Years. When they don't get the crowd, they'll lower their prices.

... and 8 rooms, and awesome decor...

For Halloween they spent more on decor then most make in a year... NYE should be about the same.

And free champagne for thousands at midnight isn't cheap either...

35 bucks is expensive especially considering I have to buy two tickets! I guess this is to be expected considering the night. Regardless of the price I know DEKOZE and EVIL-P will make it a great night. Like I said in my earlier post, DEKOZE and EVIL-P are in my opinion two of the best DJ's out there. I am really looking forward to seeing them both play on New Years.

Headline - Toronto Residents Blow Big Names outta the water!

Hi there all! Not wanting to rock the boat ... because I am a partier just like you guys but I don't think that $35 is inreasonable for NYE - aren't we the same people that forked out crazy amounts of cash for millenium!

In the defence of the locals - and speaking as one - Toronto locals such as the likes of Evil P, Dekoze, Chu & Saddler, Stretch & Hooker - just to name a few of System's residents would blow 95% of the "headliners" out of the water any day. These residents work week in and week out to make sure that you all have a great time .... what's to say they won't go that extra mile on New Years eve?

In my opinion the line-up for NYE at System is one of the best in the city - they've got something for everyone breaks, house, progressive ... and the Djs that continue to deliver over and over again.

Know that perhaps I am biased because I am playing there on NYE - but if I weren't I would be there front row centre just the same! :)

For advance tickets ... questions or anything - please feel free to drop me an email ladylinzeeca@hotmail.com!

I am so excited for New Years this year!!!

PS - Zorro ...

Its possible to have something "big" ... but its also possible for someone "local" to give you what you are looking for ...

If you end up at System - you won't be disappointed!! If not - then have a terrific NYE!! :)

Okay , Okay I being totally mis understood here.
My biggest point is that I guess you can now compare NYE to all the other silly holidays out there like Valentines etc.
As it's just become sauturated and another occasion for making money as suppose to a celebration.

I'm fully aware that System Soundbar has some of if not the best talent for local Dj playings in our fair city including the wonderful Lady Linzee. And I'm sure other places will be more expensive for less talent. It's just this is New Years Eve this is suppose to be THE PARTY OF THE YEAR. so all I'm saying is and not directed exclusivly towards System Soundbar how are you going to make this night Better then any other night with out relying on the calendar.

:D :D :D

A little known fact about the "locals" residents nights at Breathe .... they do better than most guest DJ nights.

System's residents will deliver your money's worth. We bring a big guest on New Year's, not only are the fees ridiculous (we'd have to charge $50 cover, we don't have the capacity to allow us to do cheaper), but there's always that element of not knowing if the they can play to what System Soundbar's crowd wants. On a big night like New Year's last thing any body wants is a lull in the middle of the night. The residents know that crowd better than anyone else out there, the know exactly what to deliver. The past two Family Affairs have been amazing!

You can call it a 'cash grab',

a) There are tons of people wanting to party - so by using logic - less supply means higher demand - you can charge more and djs charge more and security charges more (and you almost 'have' too - see b)

b) I've read economic theories/postulates that by raising the price of your product slightly people expect it to be better, and therefore make MORE sales because they wanna buy better. Like if you told someone who knows nothing about System that cover was $5 what do you think they'd expect? Would they even consider going?

Think about it, makes sense. Like some people would just rather buy a more expensive t shirt made by a 'cool' label than a cheap fruit of the loom type one. And now we are bringing in the 'cool' factor....I won't get into that

c) People are broke usually after NYE, and clubs slow down - Tribe doesn't even print too - So they gotta make money one last time.

________________
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING - NYE is the easiest time to pick up chicks :p :D :p :D.
________________

Think about all the other times you went to clubs and didn't score anything. How much did you spend? Add it all up. I don't wanna think about my case. lol $35 is a steal

peace
