what a wicked party!

I arrived around 11:30 to find a huge ass line to get in, but it actually moved pretty fast.

I ended up losing all my friends and spending most of the night by myself but I still had a blast.

D12 sucked in my opinion. I just wasn't feeling it, and no eminem to boot.

Nuclear Ramjet was sick! I was really surprised to hear something so hard and psychadelic at the Guv. people seemed to be really enjoying it to.

Mauro Picotto, what can I say... he lived up to his set last fall at System. hard and driving!

one of the best sets of the night would have to be Paul Walker's. Fuck this guys good. I haven't heard him play in a while, but I think he's gotten better since then.

Aphrodite played a great set to. Actually had me going off to Jungle which I haven't done in a while.

All in all a great night!

oh yeah and I caught some of Doc Martin's set in the drink. he was playing some very funky dancable tracks that had me shakin my ass. His mixing was nothing special. Average would be the best way to describe it, but nice track selection.

two words......ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!!

anybody that was there knows what im talking about. I don't know why nobody gives this club any credit because its obviously unparalleled in sound and lighting. Wicked vibe, friendly ginos.....awesome music
at so many points i thought Mauro's set was dying and then out of nowhere the music would completely explode in a fury of blinking lights and hard bass and the entire room would go completely ballistic.
Definitely a night to remember.....
and to all those who weren't there.....you missed out

The music was phenomenal, but the real treat was the fact that the Guv was actually organized. It was so easy to move from room to room and no crazy overcrowding anywhere. Why can't they do that every time???

Ramjet fuckin' killed!
biggrin.gif

Picotto was well.....Picotto. Awesome!

Doin' a little warm up to Luke Fair - nice set!

Well... fucking INSANE!

My legs are mush, thanx to Nuclear Ramjet and Mr. Picotto. Both awsome sets of hard pouding beats. It was nice to hear the psy flavour from Nuclear Ramjet (Mr. Nivoc). And Mauro played hard through his whole set... "cameras ready ...prepare to flash!" (as Voytek would call a moment defining tune)

I quickly got used to the packed crowd and insanity that only the Guvernment can have

The jungle/hip hop area seemed a little in dissorder ... with 15 minutes of gaps that MC Subliminal had to fill (he did a pretty good job) during the DMC battles.

I had doubts but as soon as Nuclear Ramjet came on.. I knew I got my moneys worth.

This must have been the sickest party in years despite all the coked out juice bags and etarded wannabe stripper/club ho's. Let me just say the music is what made this party. I've have never heard such pounding beats at a club in my entire life, It was heaven! For all the psychedelic techno heads that missed this party you do not understand what Nuclear Ramjet just did for the scene. They single handedly educated the masses on what Psychedelic techno is all about. I was in awe from beginning to end during their set. I could not believe the shit that was blasting through those speakers, and the best thing of all is that the ginos were eating it up. Psychedelic techno always get's people jumping, and definetly is the ultimate dancing music. Next up was Mr. Picotto. What else can I say other then the fact that he threw down the one of the best sets I've ever heard. Holy shit, the man was trying to kill us or something. Track after track of pure pounding insanity. After hearing nuclear ramjet I thought there is no way he can take over the crowed, I was wrong. He destroyed every single one of us. He knew how to play with crowed, that's why he is one of the best dj's in the world. Truly a night to rememb

What bucky said!

hehe that was retarded. It was al I could say ll night to anybody "Isn't this retarded?!" I JUST COULDN'T STOP MYSELF. I coulnd't tell where one track ended and another began, they started using the strobe light constantly and it made the whole place ethereal. Relentless pounding basslines are where it's at!!

I started to get tired so I figured I'll chill in the Acid Lounge and smoke a joint to relax. Boy was I ever wrong. I swear there was nothing in there, but that was the craziest energy I've ever had! Smoked a whole one and went back to the dancefloor like a firecracker! PURE INSANITY!

The patio outside of Guv was awesome, had a sketchy energetic dance session out there for a while.

PS Cool seeing all the people: Heather, Malia, Dora (heheh), Will, Duncan, AlexD, Tom, Matt, Joel, etc etc...

What a totally unexpected night. I'm chillin at home watchin the most fucked up movie, Requiem For A Dream, and just as it starts to go buck crazy I get the phone call. At that point, I knew I couldn't stay home with my thoughts about the movie so off I went to the Guv totally spur of the moment.

From the second I walked in, I had the best night in a long long time. Heard some sick team scratching by Funky Technicians. All I can say is, holy shit! That is all. Moved in to the Orange Room for some sick tunes provided by the 2 best DJ's in Toronto right now Matt Coleridge and Mark Scaife. You guys had me bustin all night! It seemed that whatever room I ventured into, there seemed to be a surplus of good tunes. Mauro Picotto was off the hook as mentioned above. Just had to be there. Ludacris and others dropped some wicked house in the Drink. However, the highlight still had to be the Orange Room. Some of the sweetest prog house in a cool room with plenty of room to dance and nice people all around. Thanks to The Guvernment for a wicked night that has revitalized the party person in me and restored my faith in the Toronto scene!

Where to start? What to say? Where am I? Who am I? I am just getting up after arriving home at 7am. Geeze it seems like all a dream now.

I love this Guvernment "Entertainment Complex" whenever these long weekend parties hit. I enjoy being able to move from place to place without worry to check out the different "scenes" and music. I thought that this party might be too crazy to go...and then decided to pick up my tix at Vice at the last minute.

I walked into the joint past the line thanks to Charles. Immediately we were in the Kool Haus room listening to some DJ turn tablists... Unfortunately we missed the DMC championship but I was treated to a treat of seeing the new Pioneer SDJ 1000 in action. Awesome stuff! First machinary that allows you to scratch on a CD!

I then jetted to the Orange room where there was some incredible progressive music happening. Inside the Guv it was packed and pounding. People were well behaved as compared to the last time at the Guv. Lots of pretty girls were similing and not being snobby. Upstairs in the Drink - sweet house baby! Also equally good!

I spent most of the night running from room to room to room enjoying my time and bobbing to the music. I am usually like to connect the DJ to what music I am hearing but tonight was just a blur.

I will say that Mauro Picotto rocked that Guv from the foundation up! I have never, ever, seen that place rock so hard as it did last night. Dark, Trancy, Deep, Slammin' somekindabutidontknowwhat Techno. Even using the word Techno seems a mild. I thought Marco Carola and Rich Hawtin were rough....Mario P wuz much, much RUFFA! SICK! Everytime I thought homeboy was going to finish up.....he would drop the shit like a hammer again and again and again.

For some strange reason I kept running back to Kool Haus just to see if Eminem was in the house. I just wanted to see if his little white ass made it to Toronto. Mind you his name was not on the flyer. I remembered why I moved from the hip hop scene to the club/dance music scene. I wasn't feelin D12 but damn some of the mysogynistic shit that they were saying on stage!!
eek.gif
Things like "Put up yo hands if you like pills, pussy, alcohol, drugs" I think they even dosed together on stage...no lie!

At one point I was so exhausted from dancing I had to grab a seat in the Orange room. The people I was sitting beside were very friendly and engaged in great conversation about music and DJ's and the scene.

Right when I had decided to take off at around 4:30 or so I see the female I had been in pursuit of all night. (I lost all of my friends in the process too) Highlight of the night was finding her just as I started to walk to the door. You know who you are....I wish that you would just find more time for me. Regardless it was a nice end to the evening (I mean morning) chilling with you on the couch in the Drink. Too bad you didn't call me today....

Peace Party People...

Happy B-Day Canada!

(Is there anything happening on a Tuesday night?)

I know this is just nit-picking but i think you should know.....
Pioneer was actually the *last* company to come out with a scratching CD player...
Numark, Denon and American DJ have all had this technology for a while now

I did not know that Mr. Furious.....

After talking to the DJ (the guy who was playing on the Pioneer tables....He was wondering at amazement at size of the Guv....) He did mention that he has tried other CD turntables but nothing beat the Pioneer ones for their likeness to actual 1200s and scratchability...

(He might of been paid to say that

^^^ I thought what he did on the "decks" was just unreal. I really liked it.

The 15 minutes breaks inbetween battles for the DMC was beyond aggravating. Also, the amount of fake gold chains in that room made me angry and sad all at the same time.
decent battle though.
