when i think party music, i think of getting down to a bootleg of "the sound of silence".

what's wrong with you guys?

I just think that a track like that would help win over a crowd like im playing towards the end of the month in a small jazz bar. Lite breaks that wont overpower the place but still have a funky feel.

the sound quality was pretty horrible on the clip, but it sounded to me like some pretty bland production. that's my biggest problem with bootlegs, often a catchy and familiar hook is deployed in favour of spending the time and actually crafting a track that can stand on its own.

dont get me wrong I wouldn't bring that near a breaks dance floor. But as a introductory stepping stone for a non breaks crowd I think the track has a good footing. Its beat is simple and there are tons of boots that are ahead of this one, point is it flows and though not to production heavy it could still invite a breaks sound to a non breaks environment.

Whats funny about this..

I once bought the original piece of vinyl from Simon and Garfunkel. I paid $2 at a used record store, and I carried it everywhere. One day at our cheap summer outdoor bash "Apex" I was on the F&K stage with about 250 people in front of me. Playing some ill nu skool funk track and BAM!, I drop the original of the sound of silence, half the crowd stood there not knowing what to do with themselves (all the kids under 17 who had no idea what the song was), and the other half went mental!

Tried the same trick in Naniamo. Everyone screamed for that one (but Naniamo is full of hippies..;)

But to hear a remix like this done now? I must laugh.

ez,
jase.

hey Noodles0 from guelph, does the lack of breaks in the area not greatly disturb you. i recently moved here from the beautiful, smell-free, clean city of hamilton for skool, only to discover absolutely NO breaks support in the area...

What about Van Gogh's Ear on Saturdays or Fridays or whatever it is.............it's a great night of music. Plus Guelph is home to the one and only Green Olive, this guy kicks ass. Guelph does not have nearly the breaks following of Hamilton, but it's not bad at all really.

yeah, it's great that he lives here, but it'd be nice to actually see him play from time to time. yeah, van gogh's has the odd breaks night, but not nearly so much as to quench my thirst :D
