Networking question

How many days after expiry does the domain get deleted? I am just curious.

Also, once a domain has expired, what is the process to have it renewed, if you decide to do so, but after the expiry date.

Thank you.

They hold onto the domain for a LONG time.
I took over 3 months to renew mine and they still held it for me.

interestingly enough my domain expired last night(or sometime before, i'm not really sure). i went to network solutions' site, entered in my domain name and hit renew. they ask for a credit card number and you can choose how long you'd like to renew for.

:)

So you can still renew it, even after the expiry date, right?
Do you know if there is a set date for the deletion, or it's up to the provider?

That depends if it is taken off the server that registerd the domain. Most times domains are refreshed in a 24 hour period from top level Domain Servers. Lots of Admins don't instantly remove things.

if someone else parked on your domain, and you let it expire, it's gone. you lost it.
