My new monthly mix - May 2002

I just finished my monthly mix for May 2002. Would love everybody to hear it. I'll have some copies to give away tonight at H-Foundation. I'll also host it on a few FTPs by the end of the weekend .. I'll post the details.

This month is the tribal end of my spectrum. Lots of it! Good stuff though, or at least I think so. Some bigger records like the new Steve Lawler and X-Press2 and some more obscure gems. Hope everybody likes it, feeback is really welcomed.

I'd really like to know how you got your hands on Andante already (CD-R courtesy of Mr. Lawler himeslf?)... The promos (at least the ones the rest of us have access to) won't even be kicking around for another three months or so. And that's provided that "Andante" is released before PoleFolder's "Dust", which, I am assuming, is due around the same time. As far as I know, the official release date of Andante could be sometime as late as August... I'm really curious about this...

As for Andante, I think its nice but nothing amazing, although I'm guessing the reaction when played out in the club is quite favorable with those sharp synth stabs (however I have now only heard the Taiko remix on Matt's CD, have yet to hear the original).

The one thing that crossed my mind when I first heard it though was that I bet a Luke Fair mix would be absolutely massive if he were to do one. With his Kritical and remix of King Tubby's dub in the right way, the command and direction he would exhibit over a remix would probably be nothing short of floor pleasing to the highest degree.

TheTaiko mix ... and the Taiko instrumental are the two mixes that are coming out. I agree with you that it doesn't stand out as anything too amazing. It's certainly not the next Rise In. I will say that it sounds great in a club though, chuggs along nicely.

Wicked mix Matt! You've got a nice techy tribal sound on this mix thats banging. Great flow and as always tight mixing. Actually, this is one of my favourite mixes of yours.
