My mom sold my car...

Okay a few years back my mom sold my Toyota corolla without telling me. It wasn't a big deal in that it was my winter car and I really didn't drive in the winter anyway. I was also really impressed that she managed to get 2 grand for a Toyota with over 300,000 km's on it in trade in towards a new car. I forgave her signing the ownership and selling it without mentioning it to me.

So today I just spoke with my mom. Evidently she just sold my summer car. Yup she let go of my vw cabriolet and once again signed my name on the back of ye ole owners certificate.

Now admittedly I've been using her extra parking spot as storage for the last 2 years (with her blessing), but what is the correct way to tell you half senile 72 year old mother to stop selling your possessions while your out of the fucking country. It would be one thing if I got the money, but last time I got zip and this time I think she's going on a cruise with it.

Don't get me wrong, I love my mother!! But the woman just sold my convertible, my fucking summer car god damnit. I’d have her committed for being insane but the paperwork is brutal, I’m thinking of building a scrap book with pictures and articles about crooked old age homes and mailing it to her.

My mom once called a tow truck and had my beater (that I couldn't drive anymore) towed out of the driveway, then used the 50 bucks to pay off a parking ticket I had recieved when I was driving her car...

shit.. tell her to give you the $$ at least, don't let her go on a cruise with money obtained by selling YOUR posessions without your permission.. like WTF???

she obviously isn't senile is she had the presence of mind to put her name on the ownership. if you don't live there anymore, judge judy her ass.. or at the very least have a talk with her.. what, do you have issues confronting here, or is there some sort of guilt going on here?

if it's your name she's signing on the ownership then it's fraud. charge ger ass and send her off to prison. that'll learn her!

It would be one thing if mom was broke or something but the woman in retirement is doing better than I am working.

What's the correct responce to this? She got a good enough price and all but I doubt she'll be forwarding me the money. Its not like its a large amount or anything but this is the second time she has sold my car without telling me. I guess I should have re-acted with something other than 'hey good price' the first time she did this.

maybe sugar should park her car at your moms house for awhile.
I had to hold my mouth closed to keep from laughing really loudly here in the office. :D

Ditto, that's messed. Did you not sign the back of your ownership?? I'm still little hazey on how she was even able to sell your vehicle if it's in your name.

If she's losing it, who's taking care of her right now?

If it's a big deal you can contest it. Contact the purchaser and let him know that the signature was forged and that you would like the car back and that you will refund the money.

...and then smack your mother upside the head for over stepping her bounds.

1989 VW Golf Cabriolet

Basically that car but in porsche gun smoke blue (fucking grey if you ask me) with the upgraded rims. Thing is it did have 600,000 km's on it.

Really its not about the car, I'm a little miffed in that I wanted to give it to my niece when she graduated and I just bought a car down here. Its more that I haven't told my family that I bought a car and thus she sold my only vehicle while I was out of the country.

before people bother looking into the legalities realize I actually find this very funny and I would never even dream of calling the police over something like this.

unless you're gay or a woman... she did you a favour.. cause you would look pretty damn gay driving around in that.

Technically I bought the toyota off of my older sister (it was in exchange for removing the roofing on her house for a major repair) but it was in my name. In the case of the cabrio it changed hands between my father and me twice. Originally it was his and he sold it to me as part of a twisted deal then I sold it back to him because I couldn't afford it and then he died and it was the one item in his will and it went back to me. But this is over a period of 17 years. He owned it from 89 - 93 it was mine from 93 - 96 then his from 96 - 00 and then mine from 00 - yesterday.

The ownership is without question in my name and she most definately signed it on my behalf. The first time I busted her for signing my name she reminded my of all the letters from school I put her name on, I couldn't say much in this regard.

Funny thing is I haven't even lived with my parents since like 94!! I moved out over 12 years ago.
