Near the end of the track, I also noticed that its programmed well for both simple and complex mixing.
If I could offer any criticism from a listener's point of view, It would be that the first 1/3 of the track was a little flatline for me...I really like when a track will get me pumping my fists fairly early.
My opinion might change if I heard it on a larger system though.
This could also just boil down to personal preference.
Going into the remaining two thirds, I really enjoyed it.
Well.....it's really fuckin' good! Best thing I've heard from you yet Evan.
The mixing is good overall, and that bassline is sick.
The only thing I would change is the "Please leave a message..." sample. Get rid of it...sounds out of place and unnecessary.
Other than that, I'm really impressed. Keep up the good work.
Thanx alot for the feedback y'all! It's really helpfull b/c after listening to this track from it's birth, you loose a bit of perspective. I definitely will take all your critisims to hand before i do a final mix down. I'm still working on some parts, like the low end kick which isn't punching through as much as i'd like it to.
However, you must also realize that the toon is 1/10 the size of the original file getting into MP3, which love it or hate it, makes it sound 1/10 as good.
This is also my first venture outside Drum n Bass, so I'm still trying to familiarize myself with other structures and arrangements, but i'm sure you can hear the jungle influence.
