Definitely one of the most underrated visual mediums of expression because of the ubiquity of all those over-blown, MTV-esque videos we are so often exposed to. I was thinking about music videos recently and how much I love them.

There are still a few gems out there.
Muchmusic used to have that "Eyepoppers" show where they show videos that break new ground or are different from the norm. What happened to it?

Anyway, some worth mentioning:

Teardrop by Massive Attack.

They swipe boards off some kids and skate for a bit down the sidewalk, only to have poor pink trip over her fine self when she sees the guys in the car checking her out.

Radiohead - "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" (first video)

It's one of the coolest looking videos in my opinion. Shot in black and white with lots of high definition slow motion video.

I tried to find a link to the video, but no sucess. Definetly worth watching if you manage to catch a glimpse of it on MuchMusic or something.

The video for the song california by wax is utterly amazing, it was one of spike jonze's earlier videos. The video is about three minutes long, but the entire thing is in slow motion, there was probably less that 20 seconds of actual filming.

It starts off with showing the heals of a flaming pair of shoe's as a person runs down
a sidewalk. the camera tracks while it pans up and pulls out to reveal an person running with huge flames from his shoes to his head.

The camera keeps tracking in the same direction and the person turns a corner and starts running with his back to the camera, and as the camera keeps tracking you see that the person is trying to catch a bus just as it's leaving it's stop.

Then as this scene is about to be out of view, the camera turns to reveal a girl sitting in the back seat of a car who had just witnessed the whole thing.

The video is about three minutes long, but the entire thing is in slow motion, there was probably less that 20 seconds of actual filming.

muchmusic used to show a short clip of it in one of there promo things.
