Ok, so I saw this movie a few nights ago (not by choice, the friends that I happened to be with at the time wanted to see it, and I'm not the biggest Sandra Bullock fan in the world).
For those of you that have seen the trailer know that it's about two kids that commit a murder in hopes that they can commit the ultimate crime and avoid punishment. Sandra Bullock plays the tough cop, and Ben Chaplin plays the unassuming partner (he pulls off the ridiculous American accent quite well) and the two must spend the entire movie trying to catch these kids.
I'm not going to review this movie, but for anyone that saw it, did anyone notice the homo-erotic overtones in this movie?
I'm very much referring to the two boys (whose names I can't remember). There seemed to be an excess of touching between the two characters...
The more I think about it, the more it makes sense, because one kid was the popular kid in high school, who had both looks and money and the other kid was the intelligent highschool outcast (similar to a goth-kid without the make-up). In another world, there should be no reason that these two kids should be friends. It's part of the unwritten rules of highschool: cool kids and losers don't mix. So my conclusion is that these two kids were f*cking.
Now having said that, the movie would have been much more interesting if it switched focus from Sandra Bullock and concentrated on the relationship between these two kids and showed how they became friends and how they came to the decision to commit the murder of an innocent.
That's just my two-bits.
Thoughts?
