mp3 jukeboxes / drives

i was >< close to buying a rio karma 20gb untill i saw that it couldn't be used as a removable drive....

i wanted to use it for more than just music, like a massive usb drive beacuse i transfer alot of files from home to school and i'm sick of burning cd's :(

anyway, does anyone have a good jukebox, or know of one that doubles as a simple usb drive. Does usb 2.0 not allow for it? (something about 2.0 possble requiring drivers)

The iriver is really hard to find in canada, but the dell seems pretty decent...there's soo many now :( any suggestions?

Thanks

zedtech, can you plug it into any pc and does it come up as a removable disk drive? like flash usb sticks?

i really like the zen, but heard the software sucks....although it seems to be the best price and does what i need...

Archos

had one for a little while now. works as a removable hd for any kind of files. hook it up and its another drive in explorer.. no extra software needed. 20 gigs and there's recordable and non-recordable versions.

Yes it does show up as a removable disk :) Once you plug it in, it will pop up in Windows Explorer as a disk drive w/ 2 main subdirectories. One for data and one for music. Then just simply drag and drop to the appropriate dirs and yer laughing.

but you have to install the driver right...?

have you tried it on random pc's that do not have the zen software? i don't wanna have to carry the driver disk with me all the time :(

anyway, i think i'm gonna splurge on the iriver ihp-120 ... lets see if i can find it in canada though :)

Yeah that's the only thing that's a drawback imo... you need to install the drivers :( It's not so bad for me as I only bring it to and from work but I can see how it will be an issue for use on multiple PCs.
