The Sea is one of my favourite songs.
Saw them live and they were amazing.

You might like Lamb then.. Maybe more of the melodic stuff. And Esthero's Breath from Another because it borders on hip-hop.
What I like about Morcheeba are the acoustic elements.

Hmm... Well, when I got into Morcheeba, I was in highschool and I was going through this "female singer + eclectic electronic infused music" phase...
So these are the people I got into in terms of dub, downtempo and trip-hop:

Mazzy Star (only some)
Olive (I think you'd like Olive)
Esthero
Supreme Beings of Leisure
Garbage
Air (some female vocals but lots of lush cinematic strings and blips)
Baxter
Massive Attack
Portishead (of course)
Lamb
Wild Strawberries (only some)
Nelly Furtado's downtempo stuff
Nicolette
Dandy Warhols (their slower stuff)
DJ Shadow (of course)
Bjork (obviously)

As above really, Lamb, Massive Attack definitely (mezzanine), try Goldfrapp and Royksopp but theyre a bit more chilled, maybe try some Faithless but thats a bit more dancey, Fragments of Freedom by Morcheeba is a bit more up beat if you like that.

matt

Olive are cool and Air are very good for French dance.

You might also want to check out Mandalay. You can pick up their 2 disc compilation - "Solace" which is basically a selection of some of the best songs from their first two albums.

(I can't believe Mofo didn't include them in his list -- they're supposed to be one of Madonna's favourite groups. :))

I know that actually. Hahahahaha...

I HATE Mandalay. :) She used them on a soundtrack for one of her movies. She used Olive too actually. I think they're on Maverick. I also hate Manu Chao. Also one of Madonna's favourites.

Though that reminds me, Madonna's a wicked source for this kind of music. I'm being reminded of more to add to the list:

Lemon Jelly (one of Madonna's favourite)
Computer Jockeys
Groove Armada
Verve Remixed 1 and 2
Everything But the Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
