This was my first time at Sonic, and it didn't disappoint. The attention to detail was amazing, with every need taken care of before you think of it. I felt like a guest instead of a customer. This is how a club should be.

And never mind David Morales. This guy played huge tune after huge tune all night and always at the right time. Every time I tried to leave the dance floor, he played a track that kept me there. I had thought of Morales as more of a selector rather than someone who was very good at mixing, but he pulled out a lot of tricks. He was teasing tracks in long before he played them, extending breakdowns with other tracks and repeating builds.

He played his remix of REM "Losing My Religion" three times and it sent the place off every time. And he played "Knights of the Jaguar" with "When Doves Cry" mixed over the top. In short, Morales killed it, all night, non-stop.

I love this man, he is pure housey goodness. Thank you, Mr. Morales.

I was amazed by how he pulled out amazing track after amazing track. That Mariah Carey remix was sick. He also played Ruffneck - Everybody be Somebody. It seemed to me that I had heard elements of most of the tracks somewhere before, everything old is new again???

What had me and ravinjunkie absolutely dumbfounded was his use of the effects on the mixer. He'd put the tracks together so nicely build, build and build until the crowd is in an absolute frenzy and then he fucks it all up with some distortion effect that absolutely destroyed all that he had built up. He did this twice that I noticed and I can't really think of a reason why, unless he was trying something new. His mixing otherwise was nothing short of flawless.

Sonic is such a nice club. The decor, sound and lighting were all top notch, both of us were extremely impressed.

Once again I had a wicked time at Sonic. We got there about 4am after Danny Krivit and the place was just going off. What a different vibe! I was ready for it, and got everything I was looking for. I love Morales for his sense of drama - the huge builds, the teasers, the big crash with a driving bass sending everyone up to the rafters. So much hands-in-the-air goodness. I met tons and tons of people like I usually do and everyone had a smile on their face. I had planned on dancing my ass off til 9am or so (I heard he stopped playing around 10?) but other plans had me leaving right after he played 'The Cure and the Cause' around 6am. I f'n LOVE that song - hearing it on that system made the night complete for me and I was free for other adventures. :p

I love that club. I never have a bad time there. I can't wait to go again!

sleepyhead - u were in town!??!?!

morales played some superch33se but i was still pretty happy - there was a lot of whitney, there was cece and mariah. He played a lot of athems but there was always his own flair. He really worked some tracks and I appreciated those moments most.

not digging on the REM remix - sorry david!

lights were good - sylvain from stereo was in town

it was predominately gay but not overly-gay as it has been, certainly wasn't a carwash when we arrived which leads to my next point - it was nice and cool! AC was working well.

had a lot of fun!

I was going to say the same thing! Losing My Religion is making me crazy. It was so overplayed just a few years ago when it first came out and the remix isn't so different that I feel like anything's been done to it. I only heard it once thank god - if I had heard it 3 times I would've been severely annoyed.

And the lights were awesome! No more low hanging black lights to add to the sauna.

I had the best time I have had in a very long time. We got there just after 1 and did not leave the dancefloor till 10:30. It was good tune after good tune!!! He even played the tracks I asked him to.
The vibe was great, happy people, bright lights and house music, made for a stellar nite.
Also, the temperature was perfect, no more "sauna" like at Calderone and Reunion.
Thanks Sonic, David and my peeps.
luv Sheela

If I listened to more Mariah Carey stuff I'd be able to ID it. He played it sometime around 2.

I still can't get over how nice that place is. I definately will be back there and next time I'm gonna buy my ticket in advance so no waiting in line.

Thanks again Mona.

I didn't realize that was the same remix by Regisford. My bad. And it may not be the best track of all time, but I'm always impressed by someone playing the same track more than once and getting a good reaction. DJs area usually afraid to do it. The bartender was even hanging off the edge of the booth when he played that thing.

Hi Sheela, I'm finally here.

I am pretty sure Quentin has a remix of this....not sure which one he played. Wasn't there.
