Moore, along with his parents, are seeking $15-million for loss of income, $2-million in punitive damages and $1-million in aggravated damages. Jack and Anna Moore, who are also named as part of the lawsuit, are seeking $1.5-million in damages.

His parents?? WTF??Here it is

YAY!

GO STEVE MOORE!

I hope that his legal team is a little smarter this time, and file the lawsuit in either toronto or bc, not in colorado.

Thrown out of court in Colorado. Thrown out of court in BC. Hoping for a whack magistrate in TO, and if not perhaps they can find a court in China, or South Africa who will here their case. Seriously, did he not get money from insurance? In no way am i defending Big Bert, and deservedly so people will never let this go, but Moore picked the best timing for this, after Bertuzzi has one of the best games of his life.
And another thing, why can't they save all these contriversies(?) til a slow news day aka after olympics?

p.s.- his parents might be suiting because of the lost income in having to take care of their son?

or cuz of the fact that you can't put a price on the loss and horror of seeing your son in a hockey game, get his neck broken?

meh, this thread might turn itno a huge name-calling argument thread- much like all on tribe- so ... BRING IT ON

a-ha. so ou have been following the case. good- I didn't know if it was ever put forth in a BC courtroom.

I think he's just fighting the fight, and the suit now looks more symbollic than anything else.

I would really like to know if Moore got any insur. cash, cause he does deserve compensation. However he has been a complete *sshole during this whole mess. I guess having your neck broken can sdo that, but he refused to even take calls or visits from teamates (including Burnaby Joe) or any other friends he had from hockey. (quite a few) Most have said they have washed their hands of him.

the suit is filed in the Ontario Court.

All NHL players have some time of income replacement insurance. Similar to companies Long Term Disability insurance. NHLPA has group coverage and most of them have individual as well. Usually a percentage of salary, anywhere from 60 - 75% depending on premiums. So he's not broke.

I think he's due some type of compensation for his injuries, but his timing of these events/announcement is total BS.

It won't get to court, all parties will get together and settle for 10-12 mil.

Read the article on CBC's site...supposedly, they are seeking damages for severe emotional stress and blah, blah, something else that sounded reee-cockulous cuz the mother was screaming/crying in the living room while they watched it on TV and the father...actually, here:

His parents, Jack and Anna, who were watching on television when Bertuzzi blindsided Moore, are suing for $1.5 million "for negligent infliction of nervous shock and mental distress."

The lawsuit claimed that "Anna was screaming and crying hysterically. Jack was utterly frozen in shock..."

I feel for the guy and his family, but for fuck's sakes...this is reaching.

not true
The criminal charges in B.C. resulted in a plea bargain, he was given a year's probation.
Civil charges have never been filed in B.C. (yet).

Sorry about the mis info. in the BC case.
Still, something about that family bugs me. They seem slimier than the Lindros'. He was considered an 'agitator' and a cheap shot artist himself, and what's that about his bro playing for the Czech nats? I'd like to hear more about that.

I've never agreed with what Bertuzzi did, but Moore just keeps losing respect in my eyes. He's tried to turn the incident into a cash grab since the start -- this latest attempt just gets a big fat  from me for the timing (Bertuzzi's first game at the Olympics).

seeking $15-million for loss of income

hhaha...WTF....Moore was a 3rd or 4th liner AT BEST

The Rangers are being called "Czech Nation" due to 90% of the team being of that origin. Dominik Moore is one of the 10% from somewhere else.

This sets a dangerous precedent in the NHL and other pro hockey or sports leagues.

Whereas in the past pro athletes were beyond the hands of the law for purposely hurting people... this will change the game dramatically I think.

I have a feeling that all those who are out of the game but within the statute of limitations, will be suing left and right against those who inflicted the damage.

Having a tamer NHL is ok by me.

You don't think you'd freak out see a relative being taken away on a strecher? Strange.

Ha ha, where did you hear that?

Well wasn't the Bertuzzi attack a retalliation for him taking out Markus Naslund a few months back? From what I know of the guy he was a fourth line grinder ala Belak.

Anyone have any stats on the guy?

actually, the judge recommended that since both bertuzzi and moore are canadian citizens, the suit should be tried in canada...

... I really don't think it is a prerequisite to be a phenomenal goal scorer to get purposely hurt and have your career ended.

The Naslund check was a clean hit. He neither got a penalty and the hit was reviewed and he recieved no suspension.

Unlike Belak, Moore never dropped the gloves until the night of the incident when another Vancouver player started a fight with him. Which according to the 'real hockey' lunkheads here should have been proper 'payback.'

Moore was a Chad Kilger type role-player for the PK and such.

It's so gross to hear you guys smear him, especially ones who obviously do not follow hockey at all but still need to put their two cents in.

Thats not the point. The incident has been beaten to death on here (no pun intended) and yes of course Bert was in the wrong etc etc.

My post was in reponse to this:

I highly doubt that Moore would ever earn that much money in the NHL given his stats/role as a player.
