Hey guys,

Me and a couple of friends want to go to Montreal to party for a weekend, and I was wondering if anyone knew a cheap way to get there and cheap places to stay

Thanks!

I have friends that will hitch hike between London, Toronto, Kitchener and Montreal for partying. They're all dudes though.

Well, I assume taking a Greyhound bus would be the cheapest way to get there...and in terms of the cheapest places to stay, a hostel would be the way to go...

I had the same problem BUT it's harder to find rides from Montreal to Toronto than then other way. Actually I know in NOW magazine you were able to find cheap rides adverstised before or if not a two way ticket on Coach Canada is 89$. As for a place my bf and I stayed at this small hotel on Sherbrook and La Fontaine and it cost us 70$ a night for the two of us so I think that was pretty cheap. If I have time I'll try to find out the name of this place otherwise there tonnes of cheap hotels in MOntreal so do your research.

If there is a bunch of you going why don't you rent a car? It works out to be much cheaper then taking a bus or train, you could also find a hotel room for under $100, the last time I was there I stayed at the Days Inn and it cost under $100/night.

Have fun!

yeah, if you rent a car, you can get a three day, unlimited km deal for less than $150 inc tax and everything - even if there's only 2 of you going, it's cheaper than greyhound - and you have a car all weekend.
it's the best choice.

Sassy's right. If it's a few of you going, renting a car is your cheapest bet. Heck, it can even double for sleeping quarters if you're really hard up.

I know that Hertz rents to 21+ but there's a bit of a surcharge for under 25 insurance. And you don't need your full G, a G2 is enough at most places. Enterprise also rents 21+ (or maybe 22+).

You can wait until I post one of my limited-time-only-drive-to-Montreal offers.

I may go this weekend for Jelo with Evan on friday and Victor Calderone at Stereo saturday. My car seats 5 uncomfortably.

Where to stay? Hostel on McKay and Rene Levesque if you're looking to save $$.

I got a suite at some pimp hotel for this weekend. It's on Sherbrook but I can't remember the name of it.

Ritz-Carleton? That's about as nice as they come. Sherbrooke also has the Delta, Holiday Inn Select and Hilton.

Can I use your jacuzzi?

It's not the ritz but my friend did call there about a room. I thought it would be a little more expensive but It was actually pretty affordable. Rooms started at only $170/night. I think my friend said suites started at around $250.

Some people I know stayed at the Travel Lodge in downtown Montreal last weekend. They walked in with no reservations and got a room for $50 per night. I know the rooms there are very basic but he location is central and you are only going to be crashing there anyways. Have fun.

you should totally just rent a car and fill it with people. or find someone with a car that wants to go and pay for all the gas as a way to bribe them.
