the first time i saw Misstress Barbara was in July @ Turbo... definitely one of the highlights of my career as a techno connoisseur
i anxiously await further details...

I TOTALLY remember that night at Turbo! HOLY SHIT, she blew the roof off!
I was on a tight schedule that night - went to see Dj Godfather at the Orange Room until 12:30pm, ran over to Turbo for Misstress Barbara (blew my timeline of leaving at 2am, left at 3am), then rushed over to Wabi's party at the Reverb to catch the last of Adam X's set.
Finished off the night by helping a friend pack up their apartment for the movers!
(I'm hoping I'll get to dj on my birthday this year..!)

This woman made me cry ! It was the 'Swirl' party back in 98 or 99 that was at the Olympic Stadium... we got in not knowing what to expect.... we get to the top of the seats.... the 500 section... look down onto the playing field (dance floor) ... and people were going fucking retarded to her pounding techno sounds. Build up after build up.... when she dropped it.... GODDDDDDAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMNNNNNNN !

Since then... I've gone to see her each and every time she comes to TO. She owns. (or for all you frenchies... she HOWNS)

first time i experienced techno on a full on System was at Sona when Jeff Mills was supposed to show for the Cream festival week.
I was sooo pissed, i had travelled two and a half hours to see him... and the guy didn't show.
But then Miss B. replaced him, and jesus... I got addicted to techno that night and i haven't looked back since. First time i went record shopping at Terminal Records, she was in the shop buying records too! I of course played the groupie and thanked her for introducing me to techno, and got her to sign my copy of Shocakbuku Volume 1 (i don't own any of her records...kind of boring production work). Ahhh, what a great experience.

Oh YEAH Rob....that was the SAME night I was there! Jeff Mills was supposed to appear, but he didn't. I believe it was a Friday night...right? My friends and I had a killer time! I didn't even regret that Mills didn't show up. It was labour day weekend...right?

**** Jeff Mills! I have never liked him to begin with. I just happened to arrive at Montreal that weekend, and he was "supposed" to spin that night...but trust me, no one even missed him there. Madame Misstress' got talent.

Doug, are you trying to tell me that EVERYONE that loves techno MUST like Jeff Mills??? Well that's just ridiculous! It's great that you appreciate him, but I just never got into his style. Misstress barbara is coming to town and i cant wait to watch her fine self pound out the techno.
she's got alot of energy, and she's one of the few (techno) djs who actually gets INTO the music.
its somthing about a fine lady slamming out the beats like its nobody's business.
