Any one suffer from chronic migraines or really bad headaches?

There must be some type of medicine out there that actually takes these things away, without stoning you up

Was taking Oxycontin (a very potent cousin of Morphine) and MS CONTIN for half a year.... everyday...... but had to get off the opiates

someone must have some luck treating these without using narcotics?

Its fucked up cause you cant function (ie work, study) with migraines, but at the same time, getting fucked on Morphine everyday doesnt really leave you coherent either

???

lol

Yesterday, was the first time in a month in a half I was able to go clubbing and yes my body is paying this morning ;)

Literally, had to chill in the hip hop room, to get away from the 4/4 after a while

and yeah I heard alot about accupuncture, but I have never been a fan of alternative therapy

After being on oxy though, I would try anything.....its works great and feels good and all

but not fun shit to kick

trainspotting makes withdrawl look so easy lol

Generally when I have a headache I find that it alleviates when I drink lots of fluids, and generally with nutrients. I'd suggest orange or apple juice, water or even gatorade, if you've physically exerted yourself a lot the night before.

From the Ministry of it works well for me

i can totally relate...

i get migraines and for the last 2-3 weeks or so, i have had a neverending headache.

hurts in the back of my eyes, all around my head, in my neck....
i can't get rid of it.

its not like my usual migraines tho. i'm drinking lots of water, getting rest, trying to reduce my stress, lowering my caffeine intake....its still there tho.

its making me sad and constantly uncomfortable.

i make sure it's dark...and it's quiet.

usually i put a pillow over my face to make sure no darkness gets in.

painkillers sometimes work. sometimes not. I just suffer through it

i have to take oxycocet, (pretty much the same as oxycontin) almost everyday for extremely severe headaches and migranes, i never used to get them so bad until a few years ago! i would love to try something else without having to take drugs

theres an alternative test treatment that some doctors do.

you know that stuff that people inject into their forheads and between their eyebrows to get rid of wrinkles?

it seems to cure migranes as well.

its not 100% though, sometimes it works, sometimes after a week they come back.

surely there must be someone who has more info on this, as im not being that much help

Sarah,

Caffeine is supposed to help alleviate headaches. I don't have any info to back this up, other than it's a main ingredient on some of the pain relief pills contained in the first aid cabinet at my jobsite.

I hope you're feeling better!

Peace,

Sabina

i have to take oxycocet, (pretty much the same as oxycontin)

Oxycocet was really weak for me

its the same ingredient as oxycontin (oxycodone HCL), but each oxycocet tablet contains only 5 mgs of oxy

I was taking between 90 and 120 mgs of oxy a day

so thats the equivilant of about 20 oxycocet pills a day, everyday for 6 months

and I honestly felt no pain at all, once I sliced my finger cutting a bagel and I didnt notice until I saw the blood

I was content for a while, but by the end of the six months, I was withdrawling every 6 hours...shaking, twitching, puking

and the pain from withdrawl was 10x worse then the original problem (migraines)

so I just did it cold turkey against my doctors advice, since there was no way I was going on methadone or a tapering schedule, I would have felt like a junkie

and while the meds did fuck me up, I didnt use them to get high, or for recreational purposes...so methadone freaked me out

I spent 10 mins in the clinic, and I decided to go cold turkey

there were needles on the floor, smack dealers infront, junkies inside...it was gross

so now iam opiate free but in tons of pain

I guess you have to decide whats worse: the side effects of meds or pain

using opiates once in a while for pain or recreation is great and very safe

but when your taking it everyday for months on end, medical or not, it becomes a problem

especially because in toronto any doctor will shove opiates in your face, but then forget about you when you become dependant

caffeine

Sarah,

Caffeine is supposed to help alleviate headaches.

People who are dependant on caffeine, like anything else go into mild withdrawl when they miss a dose

basically a headache

thus, in this case, caffeine would alleviate it

but for most people, it can trigger migraines

the only meds that I know to contain caffeine are the tylenol 1, 2, 3 and 4's, but that is only to counteract the sedative effects of codeine and of course to comply to the Canadian Narcotic regulations which specify that codeine can be present in pills, only if there are also two other active ingredients

there might be others though

There might be a new treatment for migranes coming out in the next year or so...it still has to be fda approved....it's a compressed gas found in the environment. no side effects(that are known of yet) but so far there has been no side effects 'cause it's all natural. all you have to do with the gas is let it run in one nostril then out another for a certain time (1-5 min) without breathing it in. There's 2 settings, lo & high. It literally takes away the pain from migranes within 5 minutes. So far it's been working really good for me. I get migranes 2-5 times a month.
How I know about this......I'm in a study group. I'm a labrat testing this thing out. and I love it so far. It works amazingly. and there's no "stoned" feeling that most migrane medicines give you.

If anything, caffiene causes headaches as it dehydrates you.
If I drink more than one coffee I get a headache.

I snorted one once (percocet) after getting loaded and stoned....it wasn't weak for me, but rather made me so weak (and sick) that i couldn't move for about 6 hours.

Regarding migraines - I get one once a year that keeps me in bed for 2 days. Usually occurs in September (high stress from school and atmospheric prssure drops). Try to treat your body and mind as best you can daily (my previous statement was an exceptional experience, beleive me), it will improve things for sure. Eat properly, keep properly hydrated, exercise, and find ways to alleviate stress from your life. If you have lots of stress, find ways to make the most of your relaxing time. One day you'll be free of migraines.

The caffeine is in there in a small amount to help the medication get through your system.
IE> Excedrin is caffeine with Tylenol basically
You could as easily take half a cup of tea with Tylenol to get the same effect.
Caffeine is bad for headaches and everything else for that matter.
Any doctor will tell someone to get off the stuff if they are suffering from severe headaches.
A person I work with has these migraine tablets that cost $20 a pill and they work within 30 minutes
I have seen her take one and then look like a different person afterwards.

Svet,

Thanks for pointing that out. I did some cursory internet research and found the same thing. I've always wondered why caffeine was a part of certain pain relievers.

Peace,

Sabina
